You may be thinking “I don’t have diabetes and I’m not overweight, I don’t need to focus on my blood sugar levels”. ⁣

In fact, focusing on your blood sugar levels before you start noticing any issues is the best time to start. ⁣

Here’s why: ⁣
🩸 researchers found that glucose levels were 30-40% lower when eating protein first ⁣
🩸 any glucose your body doesn’t use gets stored as fat, making it easier to gain weight⁣
🩸 protein is digested slower than carbs, which keeps you energized for longer because you’re not getting that blood sugar spike and drop. ⁣

A lil salad photo dump⁣ 🥗

This is not me saying that you need to eat salads for all of your meals. I just love salads and these are some of my favourites! The “hardest” part of these recipes is having to wash, dry and chop all the ingredients but it’s worth it. ⁣

1. This salad was so good and filling! ⁣

I used organic kale, multi coloured carrots, cabbage, black beans, cucumber, h**p hearts, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, pink Himalayan salt, ground turmeric, ground black pepper ⁣

2. Such a summer vibe! I used red cabbage, blood orange, carrots, beets, h**p hearts, apple cider vinegar, pink Himalayan salt, black pepper. ⁣
3. The best for last. Honestly my favourite salad ever. I used brussel sprouts, red & green cabbage, radish, celery, red onion, bacon, slivered almonds, olive oil, lemon juice, honey, garlic, salt, black pepper. ⁣

“I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep up with the class” ⁣

A common concern I hear from people when they’re considering joining a class. Firstly, I’m here to say that when you go to the gym or a group class, you are going for YOU. You are the only person you need to prove yourself to, taking small steps to improve yourself. However, I understand that it’s easier said than done which is why I always offer modifications. ⁣

Before I joined the gym, I was enrolled in a bunch of group fitness classes. I fell in love with the energy and the empowerment we felt in completing the class together. Fast forward 10+ years, now I’m instructing classes… such a cool feeling. So if you’re interested in joining a pilates and/or cardio kickboxing on Sunday afternoons, shoot me a message so I can save your spot 🥰 ⁣

I’m so excited to be spending my Sunday afternoons at Yorkdale healing loft instructing pilates at 2pm and cardio kickboxing at 3:30pm. ⁣

Nothing says Sunday morning like a stack of pancakes 🥞 ⁣

Unfortunately pancakes are typically high in sugar and carbohydrates. Along with that is a long list of ingredients that are highly addictive, inflammatory, and contain harmful additives. ⁣

Now I’m not saying these pancakes are the healthiest option, rather a healthier option than the typically bought brands. ⁣

So how do you know which brand to get? What should you look for?⁣

✅ simple (and short) list of ingredients that you can read⁣
✅ high in protein and fibre ⁣
✅ low in sugar ⁣
