Message from a Global Director
These this is some information that Global Jacqueline McGrath shared with her org, I'm going to share her words here as she has more information than me and I don't want to take anything out of context.
Update Hi Team,
Checking in. It hasn’t even been 24 hours, and I’m sure you’re feeling the same whirlwind of emotions I am—disbelief, confusion, anger, and frustration. Please know we are all in this together.
A few common questions I want to address and this is from ME and Not officially Epicure or MNP - Nothing official JUST keeping you in the loop of what I hear. Communication is key
I have an order placed in the past week. Will my items arrive?
A: I do not have this in writting but have a reliable source that there is a few home team members in shipping fulfilling orders. Stay tuned. Looks good at this point.
How come I did not get an email?
A: apparently the trustees at MNP requested 2 seperate groups - 1 for people who are active and expecting pay at month end. the 2nd group would be ambassadors not as active. Hope that explains the process as I understand it. This is not an Epicure thing it is in Trustee hands
How come we were not given advance notice?
A: apparently in Canada when this happens the trustee comes in and removes emplyees and locks the door. Communication in cut off. At this point the Trustee and the bank can be negociating potential offers or agreement. So there is opportunity for something to rise from the ashes.
Can I sell my products?
A: - Yes you can. I have many customers who have reached out for purchases already. Do not feel you need to discount. You have a product that many love and will miss - 1 person even joked about the cost on the black market for CCB. But is is real. We have a HUGE following of Epicure fans that WANT Epicure.
What is next?
A: Many of you may have been approached about moving elsewhere some call them vultures but it is what it is, and that is a decision only you can make. For those wondering about my plans, I want you to know I am holding onto hope. Over my 27+ years, I’ve seen other companies face challenges, and more often than not, options arise, and restructuring happens. Epicure is in Bankruptsy not bankrupt. So it is a pause for now and I have been told that by the end of next week I should have more information.
Epicure is an incredible company with stellar products, and I find it impossible to believe that someone out there won’t see this as a golden opportunity. (Yes, I’m still wearing my rose-colored glasses.)
What is my Plan B?
A: Honestly, there’s no company that sparks the same passion in me as Epicure. I’ve loved helping people with their meal challenges and know I’ve made a difference. I will continue to support my customers and continue to run my Thursday cooking classes on Facebook. I started this when I was quartined from COVID in March of 2019 and It fill my cup to show how easy a meal can be made cost effective and FAST.
I know you have many questions, and I’m here for you.
I’m no further ahead in terms of concrete details. The closure was announced on January 24, 2025, by our founder, Sylvie Rochette, citing financial challenges worsened by the pandemic. MNP, a Bankruptsy firm, is working on the next steps, and we should have updates in the next 5 business days.
For now, breathe. Take a moment to pause, cherish what you’ve built, and hold onto hope.
Thank you for being part of this incredible journey with Epicure. I’ll do my best to keep you informed as I learn more.
With love, Jacqueline
