Feeling ready for Spring? Come join my 10-day detoxification program to renew – regenerate - repair, starting on April 3rd!

Spring fatigue is a common issue this time of the year. Although we encounter a growing amount of sunlight, and are excited to see the first flowers, we sometimes just feel off or have low energy.

As our bodies need time to adjust to the changes in daylight and the fluctuating temperatures, we often experience hormonal imbalances and low blood pressure. Additionally, we tend to eat more comfort food in Winter, so we might be lacking some important nutrients to cope with the changes in nature, leaving us even more fatigued.

For many a professional detoxification program is one of the best options to regenerate and rejuvenate body, mind and spirit!

The obvious goal of a detoxification program is to get rid of harmful toxins which might have accumulated in our body.

When the liver is overwhelmed, we start feeling crappy and fatigued. During a detoxification program you eat and drink and live as clean as possible thus enabling the liver to take a break and to clear potential “dump sides”.

Why not make time for yourself this Spring!

With just 10 days of healthy eating, you can experience a whole new you

There is no need to go on a juice fast or deprive yourself of food, ending up “hangry”. My 10-day-detoxification program is easy to follow and allows you to integrate it into your busy family and professional life. Delicious recipes adjustable for the whole family will satisfy your taste buds and keep cravings at bay.

Additionally, we will be discussing ways to reduce harmful toxins in your environment, natural options for personal care and household products.

As a registered holistic nutritionist, I will guide you thoroughly through the process and will be there for you via e-mail or phone for any question you might have.

The program cost is 100$ plus tax. It is limited to 7 participants.

It will take altogether 14 days, starting with an online introductory meeting on Thursday the 3rd of April at 7.30 pm. The first day of the detox is Monday, the 7th of April.

Together with a small group of like-minded people you will get all the information and encouragement in the comfort of your own home.

As preparation is key, you will be provided ahead with meal suggestions, delicious recipes and shopping tips, as well as detailed information on do’s and don’ts while being on a detox. At the introductory meeting we will discuss the process in detail, answering all questions you might have.

You will have time over the weekend for shopping and preparation as the actual detox starts on Monday the 7th.

Follow-up meetings will take place on Monday the 7th, Thursday the 10th, Monday the 14th, and Wednesday the 16th of April on Zoom, always at 7.30 pm, for about one hour.

The detox ends on Wednesday the 16th, right in time for your Easter celebrations.

Please register either via phone at 905-580-9946 or via e-mail at daniela@4yourhealthonly.com.

Let me show you that detoxification is not a threat to your happiness but the beginning of a journey to your personal well-being!

Sincerely,

Daniela Wachter R.H.N

Get spring clean inside out with my professionally guided 10-day-detoxification program from the comfort of your own home!

Spring is here and with the growing amount of sunlight we all long naturally for new beginnings. Even as we still might encounter some adverse winter weather, we know intuitively that the first shoots just wait under snow to peak out of the ground.

In Christian tradition spring was a time for fasting, while ancient cultures in the Northern Hemisphere celebrated the Spring Equinox with bonfires and cleansing rituals such as smudging to clear out old energies and to invite new ideas and fresh energy into the home. Our habit of Spring cleaning is a remnant of those times.

Yet our bodies need some tender loving care too. One day we have all the energy we have been longing for to change our habits in favour of a healthier, happier us, but on other days we are feeling the exhaust of a long winter, the extra weight we might have gained or just that fatigue, which lefts us stranded on the couch munching on that favorite pack of chips.

These days there is a lot of talk about staying young forever, anti-aging cosmetics and supplements. Let me steer you through the jungle of Dr. Internet and relevant scientifically proven recommendations.

So, if you want not only to get rid of the dust in your home, but to refresh and rejuvenate your body, mind, and spirit with a detoxification program, guided by a Registered Holistic Nutritionist here is your call.

My unique program will reset your metabolism and give your liver a break. Moreover, it will shift your focus on how to take good care of yourself even in turbulent times. We will talk about nutrition, natural personal care, and healthier household products but also about easy ways to manage stress, how to encourage a good night’s sleep and how to fight the first signs of aging. You will get at least 5 hours group consultation with a registered holistic nutritionist and 10 days of delicious and easy to do recipes for the whole family.

Together with a group of like-minded people you will get all the information and encouragement in the comfort of your own home. The group is limited to seven participants to ensure you have enough time for your questions.

The whole program will take 14 days starting with an introductory meeting on Thursday, the 3rd of April at 7.30 pm.

Love is in the air…
In ancient times the Egyptians believed that the heart is the residence of the brain. Many of us would support this thesis at least from a humanitarian perspective. Sayings like “I knew it by heart” or “listen to your heart” reflect the inner knowing that there is more needed to intelligence and human existence than just a brain. An open heart, love and friendship make our lives worth living.

Several studies conclude that the biggest risk factor to acquire a chronic disease is loneliness and social isolation, even more relevant than diet and exercise.

We all know that you literally can die from a broken heart. Babies even die, if they are not being held and touched on a regular basis. How well we are socially connected, not only with our significant other but also with friends and family is a major predictor for our overall health, especially our heart health.

In the so-called Blue Zones Communities one of the most obvious factors for the life-long health of their inhabitants is their sense of belonging to a group or community who cares. They rarely use social media but just go for a walk or share a meal with their friends.

Overuse of social media is causally related to the rising rates of mental health issues in our youth especially depression and anxiety. More time on electronic devices is not naturally quality time.

Upcoming Family Day gives us an opportunity to refocus our priorities on what actually matters, which hopefully is love, connection and community, not only for our heart health but for all we love and cherish!

Wishing you a wonderful Family Day weekend filled with love and laughter!

Happy Valentine’s Day,

Detoxification – worth trying or just a hype?

Especially in the beginning of the year detoxification is a term you can find in many recommendations for a good start into the New Year.

But what is it all about? What exactly is detoxification? Why should I try it?

Well, it all starts with the build up of toxins – be it parabens from your cosmetics, BPA from plastic bottles, glyphosate, or alcohol, preservatives from the food we eat, heavy metals, bacteria, dead cell remnants and waste products from our very own hormone production like cholesterol. They all end up at our one and only waste management site - our liver.

Besides its role in controlling our blood sugar levels and the production of cholesterol and bile, the major functions of the liver are the processing of nutrients absorbed from our small intestines to make them safely available for all our cells and the disposal of harmful substances which either entered our body or are produced by our body.

Every minute the liver filters two litres of blood, recycling useful compounds, and removing bacteria and other debris. To work at its best the liver needs a multitude of Vitamins and Minerals.

The obvious goal of any detoxification process is to get rid of harmful substances. Therefore the liver combines toxins, bacteria, or other debris with a compound to make them either water-soluble, so we can get rid of them via our kidneys in the urine or fat-soluble so they can be disposed of through the intestines via the bile.

Any compound which can not be transformed stays in the body. To prevent those toxins from circulating through our blood and damaging our cells, the liver “parks” them in our body’s fat. That is why people who are fasting often experience heavy migraines originating from toxins which are dissolved too quickly from their body fat.

Detoxification by the liver works in three steps:
• In phase I toxins are metabolized into intermediate substances which may even be more harmful than the toxin itself. A lot of free radicals (harmful molecules) are produced in this process, which calls for the presence of ample amounts of antioxidant enzymes and a quick transformation into Phase II.

• In phase II the intermediate substances are transformed into water- or fat-soluble compounds in a process called conjugation. To successfully create them our liver needs several building blocks derived from our diet, like sulfuric compounds from garlic or amino acids from clean proteins which attach to those intermediates.

• In Phase III the newly created compounds are excreted via the kidneys or the intestines. Optimal digestion and kidney function is crucial.

To perform its everyday detoxification tasks the liver needs certain Vitamins like B Vitamins and Vitamin C and Minerals like Zink, Magnesium, as well as clean proteins to name only a few.
As long as the liver is provided with the needed nutrients and not overloaded with toxins it will be in balance, and we have a fair chance to live a healthy and happy life. We most probably do not even take note of the hard work the liver performs every day. Yet in our lifespan we all encounter more or less harmful substances from our diet or in our environment.

Maybe we suffer from chronic stress leading to high cortisol levels or we do have to take medication on a regular basis. All of which can overload the liver and slow down the detoxification process. Immune weakness, unstable blood sugar and hormonal imbalances may be the consequence.

Combined with a less than optimal lifestyle, having sleep issues, little exercise and a diet loaded with sugar and processed foods, we may develop inflammatory diseases like diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure or autoimmune conditions. First signs of an overloaded liver may be skin issues like eczema and blotches, fatigue, or digestive issues.

So, what can we do to help our liver to function at its best?
Ideally, the liver should be able to handle detoxification on its own. Yet our modern lifestyle and diet overloads our liver continuously. Therefore, it is useful to give it a little help from time to time which would firstly be a healthier diet and lifestyle to prevent more toxins compromising the system and secondly a temporary cleansing process to clear the body of existing toxins. This is often called a detoxification protocol.

There are many approaches to detoxification like fasting, special dietary regimens, herbal support, and sauna.

A simple start can be to avoid alcohol, caffeine, and sugar, combined with a diet consisting of ample amounts of fresh vegetables, clean animal, and vegetarian protein, as well as low-sugar fruits like apples and berries.

Additionally, there is a multitude of herbal compounds to consider as well as supplements to support an overloaded liver. Individual supplementation, delicious balanced meal plans, and lifestyle recommendations can ensure the success of your efforts.

I do offer a professional detoxification program on a regular base either in a group setting via Zoom or individually in person.

As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist I am certainly well-trained to successfully accompany you on your journey to feel and look your best. You will find more information on the detox program on my Facebook site 4 Your Health Only

New Year on the doorstep…

After some days of indulgence, foodwise and socially, I now really enjoy a few hours on my own. Taking a walk, meditating or just watching the birds in the garden with a good cup of coffee in my hands.

This time of the year was always very special to me –
I call it “the time between the years”. In former times these 11 days and 12 nights between the 26th of December and the 6th of January were added to the days of the year to compensate the difference between the lunar year with 354 days to the solar year with 365 days.

According to traditional Celtic and German believe these nights, called the rough nights, are magical. Each night stands for one month of the coming year. People used a lot of incense like frankincense and herbs like sage to clean their houses and to keep bad influences away…they also paid off old debts, cleared their places from debris and gave everything a good clean as a preparation for the new year to come. Many of us instinctively do the same thing.

What will the New Year bring, what dreams do we want to pursue, or might we have to bury? New Years resolutions are popular especially when it comes to healthy eating or habits, and if you are a bit like me, they often end in a bonfire of frustration, me feeling worse than before.

If you like to make a real difference in the New Year, maybe consider joining a group of like-minded people to give yourself a proper start into a healthier and a happier New Year 2025.

I do offer a 10-day detoxification program online via Zoom, in a small group setting, which most probably suits your needs and is easy to do.

The obvious goal of a detoxification program is to get rid of harmful toxins which might have accumulated in your body, such as pesticides, parabens or preservatives. During my program you will eat and drink and live as clean as possible, thus enabling your liver to start the “clean-up process” with delicious recipes suitable for the whole family. Baby, it’s cold outside…

with some cold days ahead I sit at my desk in my little office watching the birds and the squirrels in the garden… I can’t believe how lucky I am to have a roof over my head, a functioning furnace, food on the table and people around me who do care.

Everything else is of no importance to me, thoughts like can we afford that vacation, that stunning dress, or that home renovation to improve the so-called curb-appeal are far away. Sometimes it needs just some bitter cold to remind us, what really counts, especially at Christmas.

Many of our traditions and festivities are rooted in pre-Christian times. Our Christmas trees are the evergreen symbol of immortality, the tree of life. In northern Europe people decorated their houses with evergreen fir branches to keep off harmful ghosts and lit abundant candles to symbolize the hope of the return of spring.

Christmas itself is strongly connected with the winter solstice. It represents the return of the light – physically as daylight will be growing again from tomorrow on, and spiritually as the birth of Christ provides the hope that light will conquer darkness.

Coming together for shelter and company is deeply rooted in our genes. Our ancestors knew that they could never make it over the winter alone – but with a little help of their friends. Science meanwhile has proven that relationships are the most important factors for a long and healthy lifespan.

So, let’s celebrate our social ties, our family and friendships, and the beautiful smile of a stranger in the line at the cash counter.

Maybe you know someone who just needs such a smile, a phone call or a little encouragement at Christmas. Take the extra step to spread the spirit.

Have a wonderful, joyous holiday.
Stay warm,
Daniela Wachter

Selfcare is not selfish…

When I first heard this phrase I started smiling, and it even felt a little uncomfortable. However, then it sunk deeper as I realized that so many people do everything for their families and others but do not deem themselves worth taking time just for themselves, e.g. having fun with friends, read a book, indulge in whatever they like, no conditions…

Lately, many of us have been busy with all the preparations to make “back to school” a success, or to help their grown-up children to find housing, organizing a move, or are struggling to get back into their work-life routine. Despite the beautiful late summer weather for some of us summer is already a distant memory swallowed by daily routines.

Why not do something different this fall and fill at least half an hour a day with some tender loving care for yourself. This might be taking that online meditation course, or regular walks after dinner, a hot bath with a luxurious bath salt or trying a Reiki treatment for the first time.

This is a great time to implement new fall routines, which will help you to feel better and stay healthier when the first rainy days and cold nights occur. We all know that back to school often also means back to runny noses and infections. Immune strength is not just genetics, its daily habits and lifestyle.

Why not try to integrate more vegetables and fruits into your diet, reduce sugary treats or start a new exercise routine. There are plenty of new offers out there, you could try Tai Chi, Zumba, Pickle ball and much more.

Good sleep starts with switching off your TV, or mobile devices at least one hour before bedtime. Blue light from electronic devices can interfere with the production of Melatonin, a neurotransmitter much needed to fall asleep.

Peace of mind is much easier achieved when you follow a regular mindful routine, be it meditation, breathwork or a gratitude diary.

If you search for a starting point, consider my 10-day-detox program, which focuses on good nutrition, healthy habits and of course detoxification. A few pounds less are also a common outcome, but not necessarily the goal.

All you need to invest is 10 days of commitment to a healthier lifestyle and yes, your family will love the provided recipes (no one will stay hungry).

I will start the program with an introductory meeting on Friday, October the 18th, at 7.30 pm. As preparation is key, we will have enough time to answer any questions. Follow-up meetings will take place on the following Sunday and Wednesday evenings at 7.30 pm. Last day of the detox will be 30th of October, right in time to get ready for Halloween.

The cost of the program is 90$ plus tax.

If you are interested to participate or have further questions please do not hesitate to contact me by phone at 905-580-9946 or by e-mail at daniela@4yourhealthonly.com.
