Did you know your pelvic floor is made up of 3 layers of powerful muscles?
1. Deep Layer (Pelvic Diaphragm):
This is the deepest layer, primarily formed by the large Levator ani muscle group (pubococcygeus, puborectalis, and iliococcygeus), and the coccygeus muscle.
2. Intermediate Layer (Urogenital Diaphragm):
This layer includes the muscles of the urogenital diaphragm, which plays a role in supporting the urethra and bladder, especially in women.
3. Superficial Layer:
This is the most outward layer, containing muscles such as the bulbospongiosus and ischiocavernosus and the external a**l sphincter.
These muscles support your bladder, bowel, and reproductive organs while working with your core for balance, stability, and strength. Keeping them strong helps improve control, posture, and confidence in everyday life.
