💙 Blue Monday Reminder 💙
Today is often called Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year, as there is not much sunlight, financial strain from the holidays kicks in, new year’s resolutions may become hard to implement and for some, the weather is cold. Please remember, low mood, fatigue, and stress can show up any day of the year.
Here are some tips to help keep you feeling less blue today:
☀️ Get natural light: a short walk or sitting near a window can help regulate mood and energy.
🥗 Nourish your brain: eat balanced meals with protein and healthy fats. Nutrients like magnesium, B vitamins, and omega-3s support mental well-being.
🛌 Prioritize sleep: stick to a consistent bedtime, limit screens at night, and create a calming evening routine so your nervous system has time to wind down before you sleep.
🧘 Move your body gently: movement doesn’t have to be intense especially if you are not feeling quite like yourself, stretching or a short walk can boost feel-good neurotransmitters.
🤝 Connect with others: a quick check-in with a friend or loved one can significantly lift mood.
🌱 Be kind to yourself: winter is a time to slow down and reset.
✨ Do something today that brings you joy: even something small like sipping your favourite hot drink or doing an activity that brings you joy today can really go a long way to help lift your spirits.
This is also a great reminder to speak with your ND about getting updated blood work done as nutrient deficiencies can show up as low mood, anxiety, brain fog and fatigue and you will want to make sure those deficiencies are addressed first.
