I was hesitant to get SMP after seeing a friend who had a botched job—he even offered me a discount through the same place. I joked that I could tell he got a discount, and that experience made me dismiss the idea of SMP altogether. I thought about getting a hair transplant, but I felt I had already lost too much hair and didn’t really care for a full head of hair—I just wanted a clean, buzzed look.After meeting with Renata, I started to reconsider. One of the best decisions of my life was choosing Renata and Scalp Amplified Studios. For over a decade, I struggled with a rare condition called Lichen Planopilaris (LPP), which causes permanent scarring and hair loss. It affects maybe 1% of men, and there’s no real cure, just a hope to slow it down long enough for it to go dormant. As my wedding approached, I became increasingly dissatisfied with the limited options out there. Shaving wasn’t ideal because of visible scarring and hair shadow, and hair transplants were far too invasive, risking an LPP flare-up.Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) felt like the only option left, but information on its compatibility with LPP was almost nonexistent. I spent an entire month doing deep research, sending photos, making calls, reading articles, educating myself on the procedure and potential risks. Most providers didn’t even know what LPP was. Some refused, some didn’t care, and a few just wanted the sale.Out of a list of 15+ clinics, I narrowed it to 4 who were knowledgeable and trustworthy (three of whom had trained under Renata). I cannot recommend Scalp Amplified Studios in Oakville and Renata highly enough! From start to finish, this was an absolutely seamless and professional experience.My journey began with an initial consultation with Renata, who took the time to thoroughly walk me through the entire scalp micropigmentation process. I had previously undergone a follicle unit hair transplant that only lasted a few years, and Renata was incredibly knowledgeable about working with my specific situation. She carefully assessed the shape of my scalp and discussed what would look best for me. The convenience of being able to do most of our consultation remotely through photos was fantastic, followed by a quick in-person consultation to finalize everything.For anyone worried about the pain factor - don't be! I'm covered in tattoos, so I know what pain feels like, and this process was absolutely nothing in comparison. Renata is incredibly gentle and calming throughout the entire procedure. She consistently checked to make sure I was comfortable, and honestly, I thought I was going to fall asleep at one point - that's how minimally invasive it feels. Amazing , customer service! The response time was good from start to finish, Renneta (the artist I worked with) answered all my question even when I asked the same ones😅. As for the SMP, amazing work, I am pleased with my final result after two sessions. She is very skilled at what she does, I don’t think you can find a better artist around. I came in for a consultation because I was really self conscious of the hairline that I had post hair transplant so I wanted to shave it off and lower my hairline but Renata helped me change my mind. She made me realize how valuable my transplanted hairs were and made me feel better when she said my hairline is where it should be and etc.. for my face. She didn’t at all try to pressure me to do anything but in fact gave me a honest feedback which I really appreciated very much. She really took her time to make me feel better even though it was a free consultation. I’m definitely going to go to her for smp one day. She seems very reliable and trustworthy :)
