It’s time for our final Who’s Who Wednesday!

If you have missed our other posts from the last few weeks, we have been putting one of our lovely team members in the “spawtlight” so you can get to know them a little bit better.

This week we have Dr. Ralston who is one of our incredible veterinarians here at Royal Ford Veterinary Hospital! She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 2000. After graduating she worked in a mixture of small animal practices and emergency hospitals in the Mississauga/Oakville area. You may remember Dr. Ralston joined us for a short time in 2010. In 2021, she rejoined our team and has been with us ever since!

When she is not working hard, she is busy taking care of her family which includes her husband, two children, a kitty named Sabre and her dog Cashew. She prioritizes spending quality time with her loved ones whether that is hiking or camping together. She enjoys traveling to England to watch her son on his soccer journey and to visit her extended family.

Thank you for tuning in for the past few weeks and getting to know our wonderful team better!

September 28 is World Rabies Day!

Did you know that in 2024, there were 91 cases of rabies confirmed in Ontario? The Region of Halton had 3 confirmed rabies cases in 2024 (all from bats).

Rabies vaccines used in Canada protect pets from all strains of rabies. In Ontario, your cat or dog (or ferret!) must be vaccinated for rabies as soon as it is 3 months old. Ontario law requires that even indoor pets need to be vaccinated, and that owners keep their pet’s rabies vaccine up-to-date for their pets entire life. We recommend that dogs and cats, including pets that are strictly indoors, be vaccinated for Rabies due to the incidence of rabies in our community.

If you are concerned about an encounter you or your pet has had with a bat (or other wildlife!) please contact your health care provider, public health unit and veterinarian for next steps.

It’s time for another Who’s Who Wednesday!

If you have missed our other posts, every Wednesday we have been featuring one of our lovely team members and putting them in the “spawtlight” so you can get to know them a little bit better.

Dr. Catena is one of our incredible veterinarians and also the owner of Royal Ford Veterinary Hospital. He graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 1999. In 2007, he had the privilege of joining Dr. David Polson at Royal Ford and continues his journey as practice owner. His special interests include internal medicine, dentistry and mentoring students from the elementary to university level who are interested in veterinary medicine.

In his free time, he enjoys spending quality time with his family which includes their wonderful cat/dog duo, Princess Leia and Obi-Wan Kenobi (you can probably guess that he is a BIG Star Wars fan). He is a true foodie who is always game to try a new restaurant and is easily persuaded by a sweet treat! He prioritizes staying active and can often be found in the gym, hitting the slopes or camping. He enjoys any activity that keeps him moving and enjoying the great outdoors.

Stay tuned for next Wednesday when we will feature another member of the Royal Ford family!

It’s time again for another Who’s Who Wednesday!

If you missed last week’s post, every Wednesday we will be putting one of our lovely team members in the “spawtlight” so you can get to know them a little bit better.

This week we have Lily and her handsome boy, Laszlo.

Lily has been a great addition to our RVT team since joining us part time in 2023. You will find her in the office every other Friday and Saturday. Lily is not afraid to jump in and help out wherever she is needed whether that is in the treatment area or at the front desk.

When Lily is not in the office you can find her heading to the gym for a good workout, catching a live concert, or relaxing at home with her Golden Retriever, Laszlo, by her side!

Stay tuned for next Wednesday when we will feature another member of the Royal Ford family! 💙🐾
