Walking alongside families is an honor and a privilege. I will always carry gratitude for the trust that is placed in me. Recently I received this review on Google reviews - what a gift.

Tannis hosted a beautiful celebration of life ceremony for my father. She took time to come and learn of his life's journey before the ceremony, which was deeply comforting during our grief time as a family. She helped us with making a program that paid homage to him and our family, and provided valuable insights when we didn't have the answers.
Choosing someone who felt like the right fit for dad was important, as he was a particular individual.
During the day of the ceremony, Tannis made it a point to weave in stories told from speakers and you could tell honoring his life was her highest priority that day. There was joy and laughter, pain and sorrow, held in one space and I believe Tannis was an excellent facilitator for this. Many guests came to us following and said it was the most touching service they'd been to. In fact, the service ended with applause for how she tied our family's story together and honoring his life.
Tannis - thank you. From the bottom of my heart. You knew Dad wasn't even interested in a service or memorial, but it was important for us to pause and reflect on his life. You did him and our family right during a painful time in our lives. We won't soon forget the kindness you've shown to us. ~ AD

Many of us this holiday season will be missing someone at the table , it is ok to still find moments of joy amid the sadness.

A gentle reminder for those grieving this holiday season: 🎄💚

It’s okay to celebrate, smile, or find joy in the little moments. Engaging in the holidays doesn’t mean you’re betraying your loved one. Grief and holiday cheer can exist side by side. Honour your emotions, and give yourself permission to feel both.

September 8th National Pet Loss Day. It is my hope that this blog brings comfort to those experiencing the loss of a pet . 🐾

Reflecting on National Pet Memorial Day coming up on Sept 8, I find myself reminiscing about the pets that have enriched my life. However, it also leaves me pondering that in a society that observes numerous significant days of memorial, the importance of National Pet Memorial Day is relatively unkn...

Happy Heavenly Father’s day to my dad. It is hard to believe that he has been gone in physical presence for almost seven years. I carry his lessons and legacy with me everyday, he is never far from my heart . Sending love to everyone who is missing their dad today.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LOST THEIR FATHER

As the world around you gears up for a 'Happy Fathers' Day' tomorrow, you are reminded that someone is missing from yours: from your day, from your happiness.
From your world.

The break in your heart and the empty space in your life are magnified. And so is your grief.
And it’s a grief perhaps made even more complex by the fact you’ll be celebrating other fathers in your life: yourself, your partner, your children.
How can you grieve and still feel pride and joy?
How can you celebrate when you are sad?

Well, because you are human.
Because you can't ignore that the rug has been pulled from beneath you and you don't have to. It is more than ok to acknowledge that you stand on shaky ground whilst cheering others on.

But maybe as you cheer, you will watch those others and recognise the legacy that a caring father leaves; the legacy your father left you. One of love.

So whilst it will hurt that he isn't here, take comfort in his legacy. And know that you can still celebrate him.
You can still honour him.

And you can always, always love him.

Holding vigil for someone as they near the end of life is a sacred space. It reminds us that in a world where we are so divided; at the end of this crazy race we call life, as a society, we are all more equal than perhaps we want to acknowledge. The house we lived in, the job we held or the car we d...

It is important to remember that sometimes Mother’s day is a day that brings many heavy emotions and feelings of loss. Whether someone has lost their mother , is a mother experiencing loss or maybe carrying grief for a relationship with one’s mom that was nothing like society tells us it should be. If you are carrying these emotions today , I invite you to honor and acknowledge them . It is ok to not be ok when the world seems to be celebrating around you. Much love . 💗

What happens when someone is near the end of their life but they don't have family or friends to sit with them in their final days? For Tannis Dorscht, the answer is simple. She will, as a volunteer with the No One Dies Alone program, sit with someone she has never met, sometimes in complete silence...
