Today, The Heartland reflects on the importance of Truth and Reconciliation Day as we honour the children who never came home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

We recognize the lasting impact of these injustices and stand in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples across Canada. At The Heartland, we are committed to learning, listening, and doing our part to support healing and reconciliation.

May today be a day of remembrance, education, and reflection as we continue walking the path toward truth, understanding, and meaningful change.

At Venvi Lynwood Park, residents are celebrated as individuals with unique stories, passions, and dreams. Through the 'Living Dreams' initiative, those dreams are brought to life in meaningful ways.

Recently, Karen fulfilled her lifelong love of music by attending a Jann Arden concert with her granddaughter, while Ernest, a vintage car enthusiast, enjoyed a ride in a restored 1932 Auburn.

Lynwood Park continues to create unforgettable moments that reconnect residents with the things they love most.

Residents at Venvi Churchill Place in Oakville were treated to a tasty presentation from a local student entrepreneur. Charlotte, a 15-year-old with a passion for baking, started her business, Grain & Loaf Co, to showcase that healthy can also mean delicious. Specializing in whole grain, good for you baked items, Charlotte is dedicated to bringing fresh, locally sourced, and handcrafted goods to customers.

Joined by her mother and grandmother, Charlotte brought her baked scones, muffins, and challah bread to share with residents, who were inspired by her energy and passion. She shared her story, recounting how she had taught herself to bake through trial and error, experimenting with healthier ingredients to make her treats more nutritious without sacrificing taste.

By the end of the presentation, Charlotte not only shared her delicious baked goods but also forged connections bridging generations through the joy of baking.

The Bentley Regina recently celebrated their grand re-opening after months of renovations. Residents were joined by Regina’s Mayor, Chad Bachynski, and other members of the community who were able to enjoy the inviting new spaces. The residence features an ode to The Capitol Theatre and an all-new pub called The Honking Goose Tavern. Guests had the opportunity to sample the Pension Plan Pilsner, a collaboration with The Bentley Regina and Pile O Bones Brewery located in Regina - a true Saskatchewan beer. If you’re in the area, drop by The Bentley Regina to say hello!

This month, residences across Canada will have the opportunity to participate in an inspiring horticulture conference prepared by Alexis Ashworth from Root in Nature 🌻

Residents can then put their newfound knowledge into practice by creating beautiful gardening projects to bring life and color to each of our properties.

Retirement living is about community and connection. A new resident at Venvi Windsor Park retirement residence felt overwhelmed on her first day, until a group of compassionate residents embraced her warmly. Over lunch, they shared stories and realized they all hailed from the same Italian town. What began as a simple gesture blossomed into an hour of laughter, camaraderie, and encouragement.
