As we conclude our 65 Days of Celebration campaign, we want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has followed along, shared our stories, and celebrated this incredible milestone with us.

MVSH Chief Administrative Officer, Stacey Stilling, shares her thoughts as 2025 comes to an end. "For 65 years, MVSH has been so proud to be part of all of our communities and surrounding areas. To our dedicated team, amazing residents and tenants, families and stakeholders, thank you for being part of our journey. Here's to the relationships we've built and the future we will continue to create together! 🎉Day 64 of 65 Days of Celebration!🎉

To celebrate our 65th Anniversary, we created commemorative bookmarks as a keepsake for our residents, staff and community! We handed out these bookmarks at each Lodge during our 65th Anniversary celebrations, and at all our senior self-contained apartments during their annual resident meetings.

We have a few extras, and we’d love to share them with our community! If you’d like one, stop by our office and say hello. It’s a small way to join in the celebration and take home a piece of MVSH history. 💙

🎉Day 62 of 65 Days of Celebration!🎉

We’re almost at the finish line of our 65th Anniversary Celebration, and today we’re honouring something that has always brought smiles, laughter, and even a few dance moves to our lodges... MUSIC! For 65 years, musical entertainment has been at the heart of life at MVSH. From lively performances by talented entertainers to spontaneous sing-alongs, music has always been a way to connect!

Back in 1960, some of the biggest hits were:
✨ Percy Faith’s "Theme from a Summer Place"
✨ Chubby Checker’s "The Twist"
✨ Connie Francis’ "Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool"

Our residents still love these classics, and when the tunes start playing, you’ll often find both residents and staff tapping their toes or even getting up to dance!

🎉65 Days of Celebration - Day 61🎉

Back in 1960, renting a one-bedroom apartment in Alberta cost just $60–$90 per month! Life was simpler, wages were lower, and housing took up a smaller share of everyday expenses. Fast forward to today, and that same one-bedroom unit is nearly 20 times more expensive, reflecting growing communities, modern amenities, and rising costs.

As a Housing Management Body, we’re here to make housing more affordable. Depending on your income, we work alongside the Government of Alberta to provide rent subsidies.

Here are some more average costs from 1960!
🚘A new car.... $2200!
🍔A hamburger.... $0.40!
🥤A bottle of Coke Cola.... $0.10!
🍳A dozen eggs.... $0.57!

While a lot has changed over the past 65 years, the need for a safe, comfortable place to call home hasn’t. We’re proud to have grown and adapted alongside our communities every step of the way. 🏠✨

A lot has changed over the decades… but one thing that’s stayed the same for our residents and staff over the last 65 years is their love for the sweet stuff!

We asked each of our four lodges about their residents’ favourite treats, and the answers were exactly what we expected:

🍨 Aspen Ridge Lodge: Anything with ice cream!
🍰 Sundre Seniors Supportive Living: Ice cream—and Christmas cake!
🥧 Chinook Winds Lodge: Puddings and pies, especially apple.
🍪 Mount View Lodge: Cookies and cakes are the favourites!

🎉65 Days of Celebration - Day 59🎉

Today we extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Mountain View Seniors’ Housing Foundation and the many past and present board members who have supported our seniors through their incredible fundraising efforts.

To clarify the difference between our two organizations:

💙Mountain View Seniors’ Housing (MVSH) operates our lodges, housing programs, and resident services across Mountain View County.

💚The Mountain View Seniors’ Housing Foundation is the charitable arm that raises funds for enhancements like equipment, programs, activities, and technology that directly improve daily life for our lodge residents.

Over the years, Foundation volunteers have raised remarkable amounts of money, every dollar going right back into our seniors’ well-being, comfort, and quality of life. To all who have served on the Foundation board, past and present: thank you. Your dedication and generosity continue to make a meaningful difference in our lodges every day.

🎉65 Days of Celebration - Day 58🎉

Today we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible humans who guide Mountain View Seniors’ Housing. Our Board of Directors is proudly comprised of municipal elected officials from across our region — Olds, Didsbury, Carstairs, Cremona, Sundre, and Mountain View County.

Their commitment to serving our seniors and our communities is truly extraordinary. MVSH is an in-depth organization with complex operations, significant budgets, and far-reaching responsibilities. Yet our board approaches this work with integrity, respect, and unwavering dedication.

Over the decades, many different representatives have served on our board as elections bring new faces to the table. Each one has contributed their time, wisdom, and passion to ensure our lodges and programs continue to support the well-being of nearly 500 clients across the county.

To our past and present board members — thank you. Your leadership shapes the homes, services, and care that so many seniors rely on. We are grateful for everything you do.
