Education is key in the healing process 🔑 In my massage therapy practice, my goal isn’t just to treat symptoms, but to empower patients with knowledge to take control of their own bodies. By understanding how the body works and by identifying small daily habits that may be contributing to posture and pain, we can collaboratively improve the healing process on and off the table.

If you know me, you know that I’m always working towards improving my skills and practice. This photo was taken at the 2024 Canadian Massage Conference, where I opted to learn synergistic myofascial techniques🤩

Kinesiology taping is a non-restrictive form of taping that supports movement patterns and allows for decompression of tissues. This can help reduce swelling, pain, and encourage mobility. Kinesiology tape can be worn for multiple days, including during activities such as swimming or showering.

Time to reintroduce myself!

Hi! I’m Rachel and I have been a registered massage therapist for about a year and a half. My style of massage is a clinical approach that addresses medical conditions, injuries, pain, and dysfunction; unlike a traditional relaxing massage that you would receive in a spa setting. In my practice, I often incorporate movement, exercise, stretching, deep tissue release, cupping, scraping, and taping into my treatment plans. I’m a firm believer in that “movement in medicine” and that the most effective therapy includes active patient involvement, rather than just passive therapy. Growing up as a competitive gymnast, I’m passionate about supporting athletes through injury prevention and rehabilitation, so they can continue to do what they love. I have a deep understanding of various athletic injuries and the demands that come along with sports. Send me an email at rachelcaldwellrmt@outlook.com to learn more about massage therapy for athletes, designed by a fellow athlete.

My worlds collided!!!🤸‍♀️🥳 Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak with the Twisters competitive coaches about specific gymnastics injuries and gave them some tools to help prevent them. I believe that there’s great value in coaches understanding human anatomy and how specific activities can impact an athletes body. With this knowledge, coaches can correct poor mechanics that may be contributing to pain and build prehab exercises directly into their training programs.
