This National Hospice Palliative Care Week (May 3-9), we recognize the incredible work being done to provide quality palliative care and to call for equitable access for every community, everywhere.

Palliative care improves the quality of life and reduces suffering for people with a life-limiting illness. Many people in Canada, along with their caregivers and families, face significant barriers to accessing a palliative approach to care. Whether in hospice, at home, in long-term care, or in hospital, palliative care can and should be available in any setting to meet individual needs.

To find out about the palliative care options near you:
> Speak with your health care professional
> Visit the Canadian Directory of Hospice Palliative Care Services (https://www.chpca.ca/directory-listing/)
> Call a local community directory like 8-1-1 (Ontario)
> In Dufferin & Caledon, contact or visit https://bethellhospice.org/.

Social connection is essential to mental health and too many people in our community feel lonely. CMHAโ€™s Mental Health Week (May 4-10) invites us to Come Together, Canada through small, everyday acts of connection.

Take the "Tiny Interaction" Challenge!
1. Text one person you haven't spoken to in a while.
2. Give a genuine compliment to a coworker or a service worker.
3. Put the phone away for 10 minutes while eating with someone else.

Who is one person who always makes your day a little brighter? Tag them to say thanks! Because connection strengthens mental health.
