International Overdose Awareness Day is August 31. On this day, we acknowledge the lives lost and call for change to prevent further deaths. The overdose crisis is not just about one drug or one group of people. All drugs can cause an overdose, including medication prescribed by a doctor. A great way to learn about how you can support this change and find resources in our region is to visit the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health website at https://wdgpublichealth.ca/ and read their blog, Acknowledging Loss, empowering change: International Overdose Awareness Day.
