Hot take:
The most powerful support person in the birth room is the dad.
The most supported dad? The one with a doula.
Birth is intense.
Emotional.
Unpredictable.
And while everyone focuses on supporting mom (as they should), dads are often expected to:
• stay calm
• know what to do
• advocate clearly
• regulate their emotions
• support hers
…all while watching the person they love go through the most vulnerable moment of her life.
That’s a lot.
A doula doesn’t replace dad —
she supports him so he can show up fully.
✨ Explaining what’s happening in real time
✨ Offering reassurance when anxiety spikes
✨ Guiding him on how to help — touch, words, positioning
✨ Holding space so he doesn’t feel alone or overwhelmed
When dad feels confident, mom feels safer.
When mom feels safer, birth flows better.
Birth is a team effort.
And the strongest teams don’t do it alone.
Save this.
Share it with the dad who wants to do this right.
