Challenged by relationship issues, anxiety or depression? Are you supporting a loved one who is ill or dying? Is your past holding you hostage? Together, we will uncover the pain and challenges which impact your everyday life, address your concerns and sharpen, reshape or redefine your understanding, perceptions and reactions. We will re-discover you so that you are better able to cope, move from
where you might be stuck, from distress towards calm. Moving towards secure functioning is a primary goal of couple therapy. I integrate traditional therapies with the sometimes overlooked 'spirit' in the mind, body, soul trinity of good health. Together, we will explore your inner resources, what is important to you, what challenges you, what gives you hope and comfort, where you find peace, what gives you purpose. Thank you for visiting my page, I'm very glad that you have taken the first step towards better mental health; you will find further information on my website, www.cedarcreekcounselling.ca
Biography:
My Master of Divinity was completed at the University of Trinity College at the University of Toronto. A large part of my studies focused on psycho-spiritual care, including a year long intensive clinical spiritual care psychotherapy residency, followed by a one year fellowship, at a large teaching hospital in Southern Ontario, where I was part of the Spiritual Care Department. My clinical assignments have offered diverse opportunities to work with many patient populations: patients with mental health diagnoses including depression and anxiety, emergency/crisis counselling, elderly patients including various types of dementia, surgical patients, those suffering the effects of chronic illness, those approaching end of life in palliative care. Offering psychotherapy to my patients also involves counselling and supporting the families and staff involved in their care. I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and certified as a Specialist in Psycho-Spiritual Therapy by the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC), a professional organization which offers specialized training, certification and continuing education in spiritual care psychotherapy. I also belong to the Ontario Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (OAMFT is part of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy), working towards a Clinical Fellowship. As well, I am a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, completing the requirements to become a Canadian Certified Counsellor. Professional development is critical to offering excellent care, and is something about which I am passionate. This passion drives me to continue to complete graduate courses in psychotherapy, attend psychiatric training opportunities, engage in research, and participate in regular conferences and specialized trainings.
