Today, we recognized National Grief and Bereavement Day and Children’s Grief Awareness Day with the unveiling of the 2025 Butterfly Bereavement Project, in partnership with Bethell Hospice, the Hills of Headwaters Collaborative Ontario Health Team, Orangeville Public Library, and the Town of Caledon.

Located in our Ambulatory Care hallway, the Butterfly Bereavement Project exhibits more than 3,500 butterflies created by Dufferin/Caledon residents, each representing the hope and transformation experienced by those on a grief and bereavement journey.

“From the community’s creation of the butterflies to the viewing of them as one collective piece, the Butterfly Bereavement Project is more than an art installation. Each of the more than 3,500 butterflies represents love, remembrance, and the transformation that accompanies grief. They remind us that grief touches every one of us, and that healing is nurtured when we come together to support one another.” - Kim Delahunt, President & CEO, Headwaters Health Care Centre.

Throughout November, visitors are invited to walk by the installation to pause, reflect and honour those we have loved and lost. 🦋

It’s Diabetes Education Day! 💡

Today, our Diabetes Education Centre team hosted a fun and informative event for staff in recognition of World Diabetes Day, with the goal of raising awareness and sharing meaningful education about diabetes.

During the event, staff visited a variety of stations to learn about different diabetes-related topics, including blood glucose monitoring, non-insulin injectables and oral agents, insulin types, insulin pump therapy, nutrition and diabetes management, and the various insulin order sets used throughout the hospital.

It’s World Diabetes Day! 🩵

Our Diabetes Education Centre here at Headwaters provides comprehensive diabetes education and ongoing care for children, youth, adults and families who are at risk for, or living with, diabetes.

Our Diabetes Education Centre is made up of a multidisciplinary team including Registered Nurses (CDE), Registered Dietitians (CDE), Social Workers and physicians.

To date, our team helps more than 600 adults and 55 children who receive diabetes care at Headwaters Health Care Centre.

Happy Perioperative Nurses Week!

Our team of perioperative nurses provide specialized care before, during and after surgical procedures. As a key part of the care team, perioperative nurses ensure their patients’ safety, comfort and quality of care throughout surgical operations. They collaborate as a team with surgeons and medical personnel, while also keeping family members and loved ones informed of the procedure.

It’s Take Your Kids to Work Day!🩺

Today, we welcomed 16 special guests to our Take Your Kids to Work Day!

It was a great opportunity for the students to capture a behind-the-scenes look at what their family members do each day here at Headwaters, and what goes on day-to-day at a hospital.🏥 The students participated in several activities including a tour of the hospital, a stimulation of CPR and ventilation techniques with Manny the Mannequin, and a mini-surgical lab led by Dr. Grace Wang.

It's Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) Week!

Our Medical Radiation Technology team plays a vital role in patient care at our hospital. From day to day, our medical radiation technologists work across multiple imaging methods, including X-ray, CT, nuclear medicine, and MRI, which help support accurate diagnosis and timely treatment for patients.

Medical Radiation Technologists (MRT) play a critical role in our healthcare system, performing more than 30 million medical imaging exams each year across the country.
