I spent the early morning with my son at the Brechin Tim Horton’s decorating smile cookies!
🍪
This year they chose Uptergrove Public School for their proceeds and our community is so lucky. If you are near a Tim’s, grab one to support your local community groups! And if you happen to get one from Brechin and the smile is absolutely horrendous, I am probably to blame. If you are already a client of mine, you know the lack of artistic skill I have when drawing anatomical diagrams and today I did not show improvement.
🍪
All my clients will be going home with a smile cookie today! Happy Monday!!

Big thank you to for being so speedy at clearing the trails after last week’s ice storm.

Our trail was completely blocked by branches and debris, and it is already fixed and beautiful!

Thank you for helping our community stay active. 🚲🌿👟🍂💪🏼

A little out of season but came across this photo of my husband and I attending the Whiskers ‘N Wags OSPCA Gala late last year!
🐕 🎄🍽️ 🐈
I was proud to sponsor this event and had a great time meeting other entrepreneurs, catching up with past patients and colleagues, and watching the live auction over a great meal.

What an incredible year it’s been!
In 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣3️⃣ I completed my two major running goals:
1. (At least) One 10k run every week of the year, and
2. My first full marathon! 🏃🏼‍♀️
I also got to watch and help with the success of so many awesome goals of my clients, including but not limited to:
Swimming from San Francisco around Alcatraz and back,
Recovering from major spinal fractures/surgery with a successful return to the fitness industry,
Working through sciatica to get back to teaching yoga,
Going up a set of stairs pain-free for the first time in 20 years, and
Standing up independently from their daughter’s annoyingly-low couch.🛋️
Regardless of where your body is right now, there are always amazing things to work towards and I am so happy I get the opportunity to help.
A big thank you to for keeping the trails so beautiful this year, helping keep our community active!
Think about something you’d love to do next year and plan how you can make it happen!
Cheers to a happy & healthy 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣, whatever that looks like for you 🏋🏾‍♀️🦿🧘🏼‍♀️👨🏻‍🦽

May is National Physiotherapy Month!
For me this is a time to be grateful for my profession and the work of other physiotherapists; we specialize in the treatment and management of physical conditions (like sciatica and back pain, to name a few).
These conditions can be incredibly debilitating, causing significant discomfort and limiting mobility. Physiotherapists play a crucial role in helping individuals recover from these conditions, by developing personalized treatment plans that can include exercises, stretches, manual therapy, and other techniques.
By addressing the underlying causes, physiotherapists help their patients to reduce pain, increase mobility, and improve their overall quality of life.
Join me during the month of May by celebrating the abilities we have, and the goals we wish to set. If needed, physiotherapists can help you reach these goals!

Just a reminder to switch up your static positions throughout the day and week!

Prolonged poor posture is probably the number one cause of my clients’ pain these days. Leading to not only back and neck pain but shoulder dysfunction, hip problems, the list goes on.

Think about what positions you accidentally spend a lot of time in and switch it up to something that’s different but comfortable!

Flipping to my stomach every once in a while or adding a rolled up towel as lumbar support are personal favourites but do what feels good for you.

If you had to guess, what percentage of hip pain🔥do you think actually comes from the LOW BACK?

🎯 71%!! 🤯

In a recent study of patients with joint pain, up to 71% of hip problems were shown to be related to the lumbar spine!! This means if you’ve had hip pain for a long time, or even had your hip treated with no success, it could be coming from your back!

In clinic I find this percentage quite accurate with most of my hip patients resolving with only one or two lumbar movements. This is the reason I never treat someone’s joint without spending significant time ruling out their spine (even in ankles or wrists!).

So, food for thought: 💭 If you have a sticky joint problem that won’t resolve, there’s a good chance the spine is involved!

In honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation tomorrow, my clinic doors are open and I will be donating 10% of my profits to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.

We are all one🧡

*Note: fully booked; I am unable to book more appointments tomorrow.

Who’s been sitting all week(month/year/pandemic) and wants a nice Thursday stretch!? 🙋🏼‍♀️

So much sitting and driving can cause our thoracic spine to get very stiff.🪑This can cause a lot of other issues down the line like neck, back and even shoulder and arm pain. Here is one of my favourite stretches for the thoracic spine at the end of a workday!

If you don’t have a foam roll, you can use a firmly rolled yoga mat (or even the back of a chair from a seated position).

Of course, if painful stop and consult your fave PT 😉
