Matcha, or any green tea for that matter, can provide a whole host of health benefits, especially for our hormones.

☕️ caffeine has been shown to worsen PMS symptoms, especially when consumed during the luteal phase. Swapping your morning coffee for matcha will roughly cut your caffeine intake in half.

💚it contains L-theanine, a naturally calming amino acid that has been shown to improve focus and reduce stress.

✨it’s packed with antioxidants to help combat inflammation

🫛 if you make your matcha latte with soy milk, soy has been shown to significantly improve PMS symptoms

All in combination - matcha can be a great swap to make for your luteal phase!

Last month, we lost power for a 6 days in the ice storm that hit Ontario.

No lights.
No fridge.
No Wi-Fi.
No scrolling.

At first, it was chaotic—but once the initial scramble settled, something unexpected happened:

It got quiet.

I couldn’t reach for my phone to scroll whenever I wanted, I had to preserve its battery.
I couldn’t even use my laptop because we didn’t have Wi-Fi.

As we sat in that stillness, I realized something:

We are so used to being stimulated all the time that silence now feels foreign.

But this constant hum—the buzzing, the screens, the nonstop notifications—it’s not how we’re meant to live. Our nervous systems were never designed for it. And it shows… in our sleep, our energy, our mood, our hormones.

When was the last time you experienced true quiet?

Not just a break from the noise—but an actual pause in your day, where nothing was expected of you and your mind could rest?

It’s worth thinking about.

Supplements are part of your treatment plan to do just that, supplement your diet and lifestyle!

If you’re looking for a supplement or herb to take that will significantly improve your health, you’re likely going to be disappointed.

Supplements often have the best marketing available, so it reels you in and makes you believe your life will be absolutely amazing as long as you add in this supplement.

Unfortunately, it’s rarely that simple.

And nutrition, exercise, and stress management don’t have marketing teams behind them to pull you in! But they are the foundations that can have the biggest impact on your health.

I like to use supplements typically in two different ways.

1) to solve a specific concern, typically for a short amount of time.
2) to bridge that 10-15% gap so you can feel closer to 100%

They should always be layered in with diet and lifestyle changes, because ideally we want to use supplements only when needed!

When it comes to fertility, it truly is 50/50 so we cannot forget about your male partner.

I see many women in my practice going through assessment after assessment, seeing their fertility doctor, acupuncturist, and nutritionist (in addition to me), and having NEVER assessed their male partner.

Women take on majority of the stress when it comes to struggling with infertility, but there’s about a 50/50 shot that your male partner also has something to work on.

I highly encourage you to get your male partner assessed at the same time as you.

Don’t wait 6 or 12 months, don’t jump through all the hoops on your own and turn a blind eye to 50% of the equation.

The good news is men make new s***m every 60-90 days and we can see a dramatic shift with some simple lifestyle changes!

And yes - even though I focus on Women’s health, I will gladly support your male partner as a patient as well!

There are two major hormonal transitions in a woman’s life that we all know about: puberty, and perimenopause.

But there’s also a third that can’t be forgotten! The transition from hormonal birth control to natural cycles.

Since the pill was only introduced in the 1960s, this is a fairly new hormonal transition, but it can be filled with a lot of confusion and new symptoms.

While majority of women can discontinue hormonal birth control and not skip a beat, not everyone is that lucky. And even if your cycles return to normal, you’re still going to feel very different cycling naturally.

A huge part of my practice is helping women navigate this transition, optimize their hormones, and support their fertility.

I’ve put together this masterclass so you can learn the foundations of how to support your body during this transition.

This is a FREE Masterclass so go sign up using the link in my bio!

You’ve probably heard somewhere that seed oils cause inflammation and should be avoided at all costs.

The theory is that because omega-6 fatty acids (high in seed oils) are precursors for a substance called arachidonic acid which is pro-inflammatory, they must cause inflammation.

However, this is simply NOT true.
Just because something makes sense biochemically, doesn’t mean that’s what actually happens in the body.

Current data does not corroborate the theory that these omega-6 fatty acids increase inflammation.

✅In fact, research shows that a higher intake of omega-6 fatty acids has been associated with improved cardiometabolic health outcomes.

When we choose seed oils over saturated fats like butter, we are actually making a healthier choice for our hearts and for inflammation levels.

❌Real concerns with seed oils:
Where we need to be cautious about seed oils is where they are most commonly found - in ultra processed foods.

Do ultra processed foods cause inflammation? Yes. But the seed oils in them on their own, do not.

Whether you’re actively trying to conceive or just want to take a peek at things for family planning purposes, assessing your fertility via lab work can be so helpful!

This is my baseline list of testing for fertility assessment, you could also call them “the essentials”.

They’re the essentials because more tests can be added to this list depending on your current health or your health history.

For example, if this is your second child, if you have irregular periods, if you have painful periods, if you have an autoimmune disease, or if you’ve been trying for 1+ years…we add more tests to ensure we get a clear picture of your fertility. Each test we add is chosen based on your personal health.

This is why it’s SO important to have a practitioner in your corner on your fertility journey. The “essentials” list might not be enough for you and your health history has to be part of our decision making process.
