Building a Healthier, More Integrated Future, For All

Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital is thrilled to share the launch of its new Strategic Plan, a comprehensive roadmap focused on expanding partnerships and integrated care over the next five years (2026-2031).

It’s ongoing commitment to working collaboratively with community and regional partners is reflected in a Shared Purpose – We are committed to improving health and wellness. Together we will achieve our goals through system co-design in a culturally safe and meaningful way.

“This is truly an exciting time for our organization,” said Carmine Stumpo, OSMH President and CEO. “As the community continues to grow, so too does our responsibility—and opportunity—to evolve with it. Renewing our strategic plan allows us to harness this momentum, strengthen and expand partnerships, and enhance the way we deliver care across the region.”

With a Vision of ‘Building a Healthier, More Integrated Future, For All’, the new plan builds upon the strengths of the previous strategic plan and is reflective of nearly a year of thorough and engaging dialogue with hospital team members, healthcare partners and the communities served.

We’re proud to share that Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital has received national recognition for its su***de prevention work.

Our year‑long initiative focused on strengthening su***de prevention education for non‑clinical team members—including security, registration, and environmental services—who are often the first point of contact for patients in crisis.

Supported by a HIROC Cultivate Safety Grant, the program equipped team members with the skills and confidence to recognize warning signs, communicate supportively, and work collaboratively to ensure patient safety.

This recognition highlights OSMH’s commitment to compassionate care, psychological safety, and continuous improvement—and reflects the power of every interaction to make a difference when it matters most.

Today is Bell Let’s Talk Day—a reminder that mental health matters and conversations save lives.

At Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, your safety and well-being are our top priorities. To help identify and support patients who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts, we have implemented a su***de prevention screening tool as part of our standard care because:

✔ Su***de can be prevented with early detection and the right support
✔ Standardized & Safe—trusted globally by hospitals, schools, and first responders
✔ Quick & Compassionate—takes less than 1 minute
✔ Mandatory Best Practice—recommended by health authorities

Why? Because it saves lives.

How it helps:
Opens the door for honest, non-judgmental conversations and identifies warning signs early.

💬 Let’s keep talking. Let’s keep listening.
