Before you start packing for March Break, consider these helpful tips below. You can avoid spine, muscle and joint pain and actually enjoy your time away!

1. CHOOSING YOUR LUGGAGE

• Choose lightweight luggage
• Avoid bulky luggage
• Use wheeled suitcases
• Look for padded shoulder straps

2. PACKING YOUR LUGGAGE

• Avoid overpacking your bags
• Use multiple smaller bags
• Keep carry-ons light
• Pack heavy items at the bottom of your bag

3. LIFTING & CARRYING LUGGAGE

• Bend knees, not back
• Get closer to your luggage, then lift
• Distribute the weight evenly
• Avoid twisting while lifting

Had a really great time celebrating International Women's Day and hearing two-time
Canadian 🇨🇦 Olympian Sarah Mitton speak at the RBC luncheon!

She reminded us that success isn't just a single moment in time; it's the hardships, the persistence, and the character you show along the way.

So many powerful takeaways about leadership, determination, celebrating one another, and not being afraid to take up space because there is more than enough to go around.

It reminded me of one of my favourite sayings:
"Lighting someone else's candle doesn't dim your own flame."

With icy sidewalks and driveways today, take a few extra minutes to protect yourself (and your spine):

✔️ Take small, slow steps
✔️ Salt your driveway/walkway
✔️ Wear boots with good traction
✔️ Carry fewer bags
✔️ Use railings whenever possible
✔️ Exercise to maintain good balance and strength

If you do take a spill, don’t “wait it out.” Early assessment + treatment can prevent a minor strain from turning into weeks of discomfort.

If you’ve been watching the Olympics, you may have seen 🇨🇦 snowboarder Mark McMorris take a hard crash during training for the big air event. He unfortunately suffered a concussion but was later cleared to compete in slopestyle.

Helmets matter. 👏
While they don’t prevent concussions entirely, they significantly reduce the risk of severe head injury.
