After searching the hall and cupboard and finally her car, my daughter asked how I kept it all straight with not just 2 kids in the house but 4 and often 8 kids in the house. I gave her an anwser that came to mind and sounded plausible at the moment. Kids only had one pair of shoes and boots and no one took them off in the car. But, on reflection today I realize that's not the true reason. I get a chance to tidy up and start dinner as littles nap. Many women today work, either from home or office. So daily chores are far from the top of the list. Feeding littles as the work day ends is far more important than organizing shoes. Not only that my partner at the time took an hour of kid duty after dinner so I could ride a bike or mow the lawn void of parenting. Time for my brain to recharge before bath bed and dishes and lunch prep for the next day. Things I did as routine to be sure the next morning went smoothly. I didn't have t try and get the last buisness call in. I didn't have to worry about the mortgage/rent, the bills or our day to day financial needs.. He did that. Yes I did augment my food budget by babysitting. But he strain of keeping bills paid up to date was not mine, he was the "Bread Winner". He saw to it the drive was shoveled, the garbage was out and the car was kept in good repair.
So to anwser that question again if I may. I lived a different life, in a different world. My kids were my world (and still are).
You are doing great girls!! And don't worry if you need a few extra minutes to put your hands on a matching pair of boots!
