Bernice Redmon didn’t just become Canada’s first Black nurse—she fought for the right to do so. At a time when Canadian nursing schools refused to admit Black students, she had no choice but to study in the U.S. to pursue her dream. Even then, breaking into the profession wasn’t easy. She returned to Canada, determined to serve her community, and became the first Black nurse to practice in Canada after overcoming systemic barriers. Her perseverance not only changed her life but paved the way for generations of Black healthcare professionals who followed. Her story is one of resilience, strength, and breaking through the impossible. Take a moment to look her up—Bernice Redmon’s legacy deserves to be known.

January is Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month. Let’s shine a light on the hidden risks our heroes face.

Every time firefighters step into danger, they’re battling more than just flames. They’re exposed to harmful toxins like formaldehyde, asbestos, dioxins, and cadmium—substances linked to cancers affecting the lungs, liver, thyroid, and more.

This month, let’s come together to recognize their bravery and work to ensure their health and safety are prioritized.

Share this post to raise awareness and show your support for the heroes who protect us. Together, we can make a real difference.

December 1, 2024, marked one year since I opened the doors of Ally First Aid at the Oshawa Centre. It’s been a year of growth, challenges, and impact—far exceeding anything I could have imagined.
I’m incredibly proud to share that we’ve earned over 180 reviews on Google with a full 5-star rating in such a short time, a testament to the work I and my team have put into giving participants a better First Aid/CPR training experience than ever before. These reviews represent more than numbers—they’re proof that a First Aid and CPR training provider focused on quality, integrity, and the student experience can genuinely change lives.
