Dr. San Bui defeats Aviva in court!

Aviva Insurance Company had initially denied services to a patient who had seeked injury treatment at Pain Rehabilitation Clinic in Toronto. Dr. San Bui provided the court with evidence proving that his patient was being denied services, which the patient was entitled to. As as a result of Dr. Bui's tenacity and expertise of the Minor Injury Guidelines, the adjudicator ordered Aviva Insurance to pay, which now gives the patient access to benefits of up to $100,000.

LUMBAR SPINE
HISTORY: Chronic back pain in a 73-year-old male.
Lumbar spine is slightly decalcified but no secondary compression is seen.

Chronic moderately advanced degenerative disc disease is seen at L3-L4.

Calcification of the abdominal aorta noted.

IMPRESSION: L3-L4 chronic disc disease.

CERVICAL SPINE
No previous studies for comparison.
Cervical spine is well mineralized. It shows slight loss of lordosis indicating
perhaps muscular spasm. No scoliosis noted.
Please note a congenital fusion anomaly involving second and third cervical
segments. Here the spinous processes are united and there is rudimentary disc
between these two vertebrae but for all practical purposes it is a congenital
fusion anomaly. There is arthritis of the facet joints at C2-C3. Rest of the facet
joints are normal and disc spaces appear normal although some anterior discal
calcification seen at C5-C6-C7. There is no sign of encroachment of the neural
foramina suggesting radiculopathy.
SUMMARY: Congenital fusion anomaly C2-C3 and adjacent disc disease.
