May 5 marks the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-Spirit People, also known as . The red dress, introduced by Métis artist Jaime Black, symbolizes the ongoing national crisis rooted in the impacts of colonization.
On Red Dress Day, and throughout the year, we honour those lost, support grieving families and raise awareness by wearing red, learning about MMIWG2S and engaging in community events.
