She has extensive training in Mindfulness Based Group Practice from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine and Mount Sinai Hospital in downtown Toronto. Contemplative End of Life Care with the Institute of Traditional Medicine. She has years of experience running mindfulness meditation with victims of domestic violence. After sharing her experiences (about the positive effects of practicing MBSR) with abused women with the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto, they allowed her to teach mindfulness meditation to front line workers. The course was named; Mindfulness Meditation with Populations Exposed to Intimate Partner Violence. She is currently working full-time in addition to operating Durham Mindfulness Meditation Centre. She currently resides in Whitby with her family, she has four children. She likes cooking and gardening.

Mindful Walking

Begin walking, a little slower than normal.
Walk as mindfully as you can.
Maintain awareness of: ...
Pay attention to your senses as you walk: ...
Be aware of each breath.
Breathe easily, but deeply.
When your mind drifts from walking and breathing, gently guide your thoughts back.

Meditation practice for beginners

1. Sit or lie comfortably.

2. Close your eyes.

3. Make no effort to control the breath; simply breathe naturally.

4. Focus your attention on the breath and on how the body moves with each inhalation and exhalation. Notice the movement of your body as you breathe. Observe your chest, shoulders, rib cage and belly. Make no effort to control your breath; simply focus your attention. If your mind wanders, simply return your focus back to your breath. Maintain this meditation practice for 2–3 minutes to start, and then try it for longer periods.
