For those of you who love dry fire, we have back in stock and will be putting out some videos soon about their new products as they’re great for those cold months when dry fire time comes. For now, we do indoor range days and simulation days, including coming up:

12 Dec 6-9pm: Intro to Pistol for Police Applicants (3 hours)
14 Dec 10am-1pm: Intro to De-esc for Police Applicants (3 hours)
14 Dec 2-5pm: Intro to Pistol for Police Applicants (3 hours)
18 Dec 9am-6pm: Basic Pistol - simulation and live fire qualification at Gagnon Sports (9 hours)
21 Dec 10am-2pm: Active Attacker Practical Skills Workshop (4 hours)
21 Dec 3pm-430pm: Tactical Fitness (90 mins)

It’s been a while! I will do a catch up post next, I promise. But for now…training announcement!

Come hell, wildfires or Air Canada strikes, I’ll be running a free 4 hour training session for law enforcement in Kentville, Nova Scotia August 21st, 1-5pm, hosted in partnership with our client Kentville Police Service!

The session will give participants the opportunity to drill team movement and shooting, including around buildings and vehicles, using SSVR mixed reality training systems.

Limited spots remain. Comment or DM for registration. Get out and train!

It’s been a while folks! I’ve been head down on police training with simulation in Ontario lately so apologies for not posting sooner. Due to multiple factors we are paused on courses in general, with some small exceptions.

This is a season of regeneration internally for us. We have new projects, technology and people to organize before we can get back at it. Doing it properly is the only way to do it. I will advise when we are back on training and hope you’re all still training and leveling yourself up.

Today I was reminded that the brothers and sisters of mine who served or are still serving still care about each other - even when we haven’t seen each other, haven’t served together in years.

We ask each other: “How’s Moore doing? That guy was awesome.” “What’s the latest with those medics we served with up north? The one guy almost lost his toes to frostbite.” “You heard about that guy from the other unit who passed recently? What a great dude. He was the best.”

We remember each of the living now, as well as those who passed.

Many people pass each year and we talk about them, we relive their memories over a beer or two (or 10).

I’m struck by the fact that the serving we did meant so much to each other that it won’t go away - we made friends for life and we can share horrible things with them if we need to, as they happen. They’re here for us, we’re here for each other.

Reach out to someone you served with. They’ll always be happy you did.

We carry the boat together. We will remember them.

3 things I’ve learned coaching and instructing law enforcement as a non-LE background (military) and how it applies to any instructor:

1. You’re not a cop (and that’s okay): I found sometimes it’s weird being in the position of instructing without having the same experience and knowledge base as my students, but in the end I make it a positive. As long as you stay true to yourself, don’t pretend to be something you aren’t and provide value with integrity it doesn’t end up mattering. There are exceptions but I stay in my lane for where I can add value.

2. Lead by example: You can’t expect anyone to take you seriously if they don’t know you can do what you’re telling them to do. Cops are some of the most skeptical people on Earth. Of course, you can tell them your background and hope that helps them listen to you and take you seriously. But at the end of the day all that matters is what you can do now, not what you did before.

3. Be prepared to be challenged and understand it’s a privilege: Everyone has probably taught a class which has recruits or students who don’t challenge you as an instructor. This can sometimes result in creating a complacent atmosphere for instructors. I believe it’s important to be able to understand and explain the ‘why’ behind any piece of instruction. Expect to be challenged and learn from where you are strong and where you aren’t. You don’t have to be the strongest at the skill you’re teaching in the class, but you have to be effective. And serving anyone through instruction or coaching is always a privilege, especially those who wear the uniform.

Hope this helps my friends aspiring to teach groups from other backgrounds! I believe it’s no different for competition backgrounds or LE backgrounds teaching military. Add value to people’s lives.

This month’s session: Edged Weapon Defense with Mark Medeiros! Links are live on our site for both the LE/Pro session and the open enrolment, civilian sessions.

Each month we have a guest instructor lead our session, with other instructors supporting them. This month we’re lucky to have Mark!

Mark Medeiros will introduce concepts for simple and effective responses to an edged weapon, focused on weapon bearing limb control and building on the system of principles and techniques introduced in the previous session.

We are excited to announce the highest quality of privately offered defensive tactics & scenario training ever offered, hosted by the !

Starting on January 14, 2023 we will be hosting a monthly seminar focused on improving your tactics, decision making and combatives.

What you’ll learn

How to take your decision making in use of force to the next level
Principles and techniques that improve your safety in the event of force being used
How to articulate your actions after a use of force incident

What’s expected of you

This seminar is open to any skill level within security, law enforcement or military service. It will cover techniques and tactics for defensive use of force under the provincially approved guidelines. Show up with a good attitude, an awareness of your physical and mental state and we will help with the rest.

The following topics will be introduced at a minimum:

- Empty hand defense
- Subject control & communication
- Takedowns and ground defense
