Ah yes—the elusive Okanagan Giant Wine Glass Bearer.
Rarely seen. Even more rarely photographed.
Most locals will tell you they’ve heard of it…
but sightings? Almost mythical.
It tends to appear in the late afternoon, usually around patios, vineyards, and anywhere the sun hits just right. Always holding a glass slightly too large for practical use—clearly part of its natural camouflage.
Experts say it thrives in environments rich in:
charcuterie boards
live acoustic music
and conversations that start with, “We should do this more often…”
What makes it so difficult to study is its behavior.
It blends seamlessly into crowds, often going unnoticed as it casually sips and nods like it belongs there.
Some believe it migrates between wineries. Others insist it never leaves.
And if you look closely…
you might spot one yourself.
But don’t startle it.
It will simply raise the glass slightly, take another sip… and vanish into the next tasting room.
