Or one of my favourites.. having your arms up will tangle the umbilical cord around the baby’s neck 😑
Let’s retire these hilarious claims 😂 👏🏼
❌ “Don’t workout while pregnant.”
Movement is actually encouraged in healthy pregnancies and can support strength, mood, sleep, labour prep + recovery. The key? Modify when needed, listen to your body, and work WITH it — not against it.
❌ “Spicy food is dangerous.”
Nope. Spicy food is generally safe in pregnancy unless it’s causing you discomfort like heartburn or indigestion. Your baby isn’t sitting there sweating and it isn’t harmful🌶️😂
❌ “You can’t eat fish.”
Fish can be an amazing source of protein + omega-3s for baby’s brain development. The evidence-based piece? Be mindful of high mercury fish and choose lower mercury options like salmon, trout, shrimp, sardines, and cod.
❌ “No coffee allowed.”
You do not need to give up your morning joy!!! Come on now!! Current guidelines support moderate caffeine intake in pregnancy - generally up to 200mg/day (about 1 medium coffee depending on strength).
Evidence matters… but so does intuition. Pregnancy is not about fear, perfection, or policing every bite and movement. It’s about learning to trust your body, staying informed, and making choices from a grounded place 💗💗
