Shastho Shocheton Bangladesh

As a Bangladeshi Canadian living in Ottawa, it used to deeply upset me seeing the lack of health awareness in my country of origin have such negative impacts on health outcomes of my fellow countrymen. Canada has one of the best healthcare sectors in the world, with highly competitive system to create the best physicians, nurses, pharmacists and so on. The general public is more aware, and many general civilians are trained and certified in things like CPR and Emergency First Aid. This means a normal person who has a sudden emergency on the streetside is much more likely to make it till the ambulance comes because the fellow citizens on the street can keep him alive with CPR/First Aid long enough. It is such a simple thing and yet can make the difference between life and death. There are so many preventable deaths, preventable diseases, and cases of suffering that we can avoid by becoming more aware.

That is why I decided to start a free, online, video series called “Shastho Shocheton Bangladesh”, meaning “Health Conscious Bangladesh”. In this video series, I choose a different topic each month and update the general audience on the key aspects of that disease or condition. We talk about awareness, prevention, treatment, diagnosis, and regular care. So far, we have covered Sexual Health (in February) and 5 Facts About Coronavirus (in March) 2020.
