Five years is not a long time. Yet by 2030, depression is expected to become the world’s leading cause of disease burden, according to the World Health Organization.
The reality is clear: the need for better treatments and stronger systems of care is growing faster than the solutions.
At The Royal, we are working to close that gap through treatment, research, education, advocacy, and partnerships.

Every day, unseen pressures shape people’s lives, including financial strain, biological vulnerabilities, and the weight of daily challenges. For some, these factors increase the risk of su***de.

At The Royal, our researchers are turning these insights into action. By understanding what makes someone vulnerable, we can personalize care, target treatments, and save lives.

Your support helps us expand access to effective care, improve outcomes, and push the boundaries of mental illness research.

At The Royal, we recognize that people are more than their diagnosis. Many factors, including sleep, nutrition, physical health, and social connection all play a role in their journey.

That’s why our care takes a whole-person approach—treating not just symptoms, but the full picture. By doing this, we’re not only improving treatment, we’re saving more lives.

We're building a future where fewer lives are lost to su***de—and more people get the care they need.
