❤️ A Little Note From Me to You!

Hi, everyone. I'm Kelsey Wellhauser, the Sales and Marketing Manager here at Owen Sound Gardens. You might have heard me talking on the radio during our "Ask The Expert" events or seen me out and about in the community, but today I wanted to share a bit about why I love what I do.

I've been here since before our doors officially opened, which means I've had the immense privilege of welcoming every single Resident who calls this place home. I know their names, I know most of their life stories, and getting to know them is truly the best part of my day!

Making a move to a new community can feel overwhelming, which is why I'm here to do the heavy lifting. Whether it means helping organize down sizers, realitors, navigating medical information or measuring a tight corner to make sure your prized curio cabinet fits perfectly - I'm on it!

My goal is to make your next step as smooth and joyful as possible.

If you ever have questions about making a move or just want to chat about what life is like here, my door is always open. I can't wait to meet you! ✨️

Age is just a number, but movement is a lifestyle here at Owen Sound Gardens! 🏋️‍♂️✨

​We talk a lot about staying active, but our independent retirement residents don’t just talk—they show up! Every week, our building is buzzing with energy. From building core strength to just having a blast with friends, there is something here for everyone.

​Here’s a look at what our weekly fitness lineup looks like:

​VON SMART Fitness (Twice a week!): Perfect for functional strength and keeping those daily movements easy and safe.

​Drum Fit: High energy, rhythmic, and an absolute crowd favorite for cardio and brain health.

​Light Chair Yoga: Deep breathing, flexibility, and a great way to center the mind.

​Sciatica Stretch: Targeted relief to keep everyone moving comfortably and pain-free.

​Why do we place such a big focus on fitness? Because staying active means staying independent. It improves balance, boosts mood, keeps joints happy, and—most importantly—it’s an amazing way to build community.

Pinkies up! 🫖✨

​Yesterday, our beautiful community was transformed into a classic high tea parlor! We had an absolutely wonderful afternoon hosting a High Tea social for all of our lovely ladies and gentlemen.

​Our amazing recreation recreation team whipped up a delicious spread, including:

​🥪 Delicate, handmade tea sandwiches

​🫖 A grand selection of aromatic teas

​🧁 A mountain of gorgeous baked goods (the cream puffs were the absolute crowd favorite! 😍)

​With beautiful decorations setting the mood and some lovely music playing in the background, the room was filled with laughter, storytelling, and so much joy.

​Thank you to everyone who came out and made today so incredibly special. We already can't wait for the next one! 💖

They say food is the universal language of love, and our Dining Services Manager, Deanna Cacciotti, speaks it fluently. 🍝

​Early in her career, Deanna learned that a simple meal could change someone’s entire outlook. When she spent time recreating favorite restaurant dishes for a terminally ill patient who could no longer leave home, she saw firsthand how a small act of care could light up a room. That moment stayed with her and shaped the way she leads our culinary and serving teams today.

​For Deanna, serving our residents is a way of giving back to the generation that taught us the basics—how to be kind, how to persevere, and how to navigate the world. Whether she’s leading our chefs or chatting with a resident about her latest crochet project, she’s always looking for ways to bridge the gap between "workplace" and "home."

​We are so lucky to have her heart (and her cooking!) at Owen Sound Gardens. ❤️

They say it takes a village, but around here, our village feels more like a big, extended family. 💙

​Every single day, our team has the absolute privilege of caring for, laughing with, and learning from our incredible residents. Many of them, along with their families, navigate the daily realities of Alzheimer’s and other cognitive delays. This isn't just our job—it is our absolute passion.

​That’s why we are stepping up, lacing up our sneakers, and participating in the Walk for Alzheimer’s! 👟✨

Behind every well-kept room and every smooth-running hallway at Owen Sound Gardens is our Environmental Services Manager, Albert LeVasseur. 🛠️✨

​Albert leads our Housekeeping and Maintenance teams with a philosophy that is as simple as it is powerful: he views his work not just as a job, but as an act of service. For Albert, the true reward of a hard day’s work is knowing his actions align with his personal values—even when the tasks are difficult.

​He’s often seen sharing a laugh with his team or enjoying the "camaraderie" that comes from working so closely together. When asked what he would say to a family nervous about their loved one moving into retirement living, his answer is clear: "It’s about restoring your loved one’s quality of life."

​We’re so grateful for Albert’s resilient and driven spirit. He keeps our building running, but more importantly, he keeps it feeling like home. 🏠❤️
