We believe that people are worthy of human dignity and respect, and deserve the support to maintain quality of life and independence within their community. We believe that people deserve a caring environment, which promotes a personal responsibility towards a healthy existence. We believe that people working in partnership with a collaborative spirit through volunteer service, is the best method for providing a social support system of services to assist in the individual attaining a level of personal well-being. Such a system then is: consumer centered, well coordinated, resource sensitive, well planned, accountable, equitably accessible and offers an array of services directed towards optimizing and maintaining quality of well-being for individuals within their community. Our purpose is to manage and deliver Ministry of Health approved services to eligible seniors and physically challenged adults within Grey and Bruce Counties, including the City of Owen Sound. The services we provide are to assist clients in maintaining their independence within their community and daily lives.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported our Pull a Heart String fundraiser at Heritage Place Mall ❤️🌟🎄

To those who stopped by the mall, donated online, sent in cheques, or dropped off contributions at our office — your generosity did not go unnoticed. We are also deeply grateful to our volunteers, who continued to give their time and care to our programs throughout the busy holiday season.

We truly witnessed a generous spirit across our community, and we are so thankful for it. Your support helps us continue offering programs and services to seniors and adults with disabilities across Grey-Bruce — not just during the holidays, but all year long.

🌟🎄 Before the new year really gets going, we’re taking one last look back at the holiday season at East Grey Day Away. On Christmas Eve, clients and staff posed with the Christmas tree and each enjoyed their own special holiday photo — a lovely way to capture the season and the smiles. ❤️

As we settle into 2026, we’re still reminiscing about the fun we had over Christmas at Day Away! Beloved pet therapy dog Tiree and his wonderful owners, Don and Kim, graciously brought gifts for all our clients and got into the festive spirit themselves, dressing up as Santa and Rudolph! 🐾🎅🦌

Moments like these bring so much joy, laughter, and warmth to our programs, and we’re so grateful for Tiree, Don, Kim, and all the community members who make the season brighter for our clients. 💙

Meals on Wheels will be delivered in a limited capacity in some communities in Grey-Bruce today, December 31st. All clients who are not receiving meals today will be contacted. If you have any questions or require clarification, please contact our Meals on Wheels department at 519-372-2091 ext 3.

This year came with its share of ups and downs, and a time of transition for our organization — thank you for sticking with us, for your patience, and for your continued commitment.

❄️HCSS Head Office and All Day Away locations are closed today, December 31st, due to ongoing weather conditions. Our staff will be working remotely and will will be available by phone or email.

A peek inside East Grey Day Away, where the program space has been transformed into a cozy winter wonderland ❄️✨ Friendly snowmen, a beautiful snowy Christmas tree, fluffy snowflakes everywhere — and even mittens drying on a line — have helped create a welcoming, festive space for our clients to enjoy.

It’s the little touches like these that make Day Away feel extra special during the holiday season. 💙
