Today’s Moosehide Campaign breakfast at M’Wikwedong.

The Moose Hide Campaign is a grassroots, Indigenous-led movement aimed at ending violence against women and children in Canada. By wearing a small piece of moose hide, participants pledge to take a stand against gender-based violence, support reconciliation, and hold themselves accountable to protect the women and children in their lives.

For all the Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunties, and Women
who carry the spirit of our people — Happy Mother’s Day.
Like the moon that watches over the waters,
you guide us quietly, steadily,
with love strong enough to carry generations.
Your hands have gathered medicines,
prepared feasts, braided hair,
wiped tears, and lifted spirits
when the world felt heavy.
You taught us that healing lives in the land,
in cedar smoke drifting toward the sky,
in wild medicines pushing through the earth each spring,
and in the laughter shared around the table.
You are the heartbeat of the lodge,
the warmth beside the fire,
the voice reminding us who we are
and where we come from.
Through every hardship,
you carried resilience like a sacred bundle,
wrapped carefully with prayers, teachings, and love.
Today we honour you —
for your strength, your gentleness,
your stories, your sacrifices,
and the way you continue to nurture our people
like Mother Earth herself.
May Creator bless your path with peace,
your heart with joy,
and your spirit with rest.
Miigwetch for all that you are.

Happy Mother’s Day. ❤️
