20 years ago I graduated from Foothills College of Massage Therapy. I was a bit unsure how long I would last in this field, as it has a high burnout rate, I never expected a 20 plus year career. I continue to love what I do, everyday there is excitement in the air when a client arrives. Today I will celebrate the journey it’s taken me on so far, and all the great clients I have met along the way. Thank you for all the support along this journey.

Happy Valentine's Day. The relationship you have with yourself is the foundation for everything you do in life so on this day of celebration of love take time to love, accept and appreciate the beauty of YOU.

I’ve always felt that the most important relationship we can have in our lives is the one we have with ourselves, but this feels even more true after all that has transpired over these past 12 months.

I ask you today to spend some time with yourself, honoring and really taking care of your body and mind.

Modality Monday!

Manual Lymphatic Drainage or MLD was created by Dr. Emil Vodder and Estrid Vodder.

Practitioners use a light touch when they massage, following the flow of the lymph towards the heart. There are five basic techniques: stationary, rotary, thumb circles, pumping and scooping.

MLD helps reduce swelling and has some analgesic effects. Some practitioners are trained to help manage lymphedema, wounds and other skin conditions.

MLD and CDT combined are perfect for treating lymphedema. Approximately 20% who had lymph nodes removed in the armpit due to breast cancer will develop lymphedema. Lymphedema most commonly develops within the first 3 years of surgery, however can develop years later.
