A HUGE THANK YOU to 103.3 Moose FM - CKLP! In support of Breast Cancer treatment, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Kathy Jennings took her show on the road - and broadcast live from WPSHC!

This initiative was the result of a longstanding partnership between 103.3 Moose FM, WPSHC Foundation and , and it raised over $1,200 dollars to support Breast Cancer screening and care right here in Parry Sound!

This past week was !

Our Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) team celebrated with education, vaccinations, music, and chocolate bars! The incredible work done by this team ensures that our health centre continues to be a safe place of care by minimising infection transmission risks. đź‘€

This year’s theme, "Bridging Gaps, Building Bridges," highlights the collaborative nature of health care, and how a healthy community does not happen in isolation.

Our teams exemplify this approach, as IPAC education worked in tandem with community participation to increase vaccination rates, promote hand hygiene, and encourage vigilance around infection transmission vectors.

Thank you, IPAC!

It’s !

In October, we celebrate Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapist Assistants!

The work done by Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapist Assistants (OTs/OTAs) promotes safe, self-sufficient, and healthy living - and not just for your occupation! In this context, “occupation” refers to any daily task essential to everyday living, such as cooking, dressing, working, or playing.

OTs and OTAs analyse what people need and want to do in their lives - and help them do it. This highly collaborative discipline works with doctors, nurses, other care professionals, and patients themselves to support health and well-being.
Thank you to OTs and OTAs at WPSHC, and all over the world! đź’–

Its Medical Device Reprocessing Week!

Meet the team that keeps essential medical equipment clean, sterilised, and ready for use. Precision is the name of the game in Medical Device Reprocessing, and these rock stars knock it out of the park every single day. Their attention to detail and care protect both patients and staff, and their work is crucial to safe surgical and procedural care.

This work is often time-consuming and labour-intensive, but these team members go above and beyond to ensure that every tray, tool, and scope is ready when needed. Join WPSHC in celebrating these professionals who are integral to the delivery of safe, high-quality health care.

A BIG thank you to the Medical Device Reprocessing Department!

It's !

On World Mental Health Day, let's take a moment to check-in with each other, talk about mental health, and promote mental well-being. Above all, remember that you're not alone, that it's okay to talk about mental health, and that seeking support is not a sign of weakness. Whether you're struggling or supporting others, your experiences matter.

Together, we can break the stigma, raise awareness, encourage open conversations, promote empathy, and support each other in our individual journeys to well-being.

Last week, WPSHC commemorated Truth, Respect, and the Journey to Reconciliation. Here’s why that’s important to all of us here at WPSHC.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a time of recognition for the painful history and ongoing impact of colonisation on the First Nations, Indigenous, Inuit, and Métis peoples who have called this land home since time immemorial. It is also a day to honour our intention to work toward a better future together.
WPSHC believes it is of the utmost importance to recognise the continued effects of colonisation and the privileges that continue to be bestowed on many by that history. We acknowledge the pain wrought by this legacy and declare our intention to work toward a better future together. We share our gratitude for the beauty and abundance that surrounds us, and hope that through continued collaboration and relationship-building, we can be more respectful of the land, its people, and be more deserving of the gifts they share.

Environmental Services (EVS) Week gave us the opportunity to spotlight a team that quietly powers so much of what we do. Their contributions extend well beyond maintaining cleanliness. From recycling and repurposing items, to reducing waste and supporting Infection Prevention and Control across the organisation, their impact is far-reaching.

Through their ongoing support of staff, and their commitment to a healthy environment, the EVS team exemplifies our core values. Every day, they demonstrate that WPSHC CARES.

Thank you, EVS!
