Got a kidney stone? Staying active and drinking plenty of water as well as Pomegranate Juice, citrus juices, and apple cider vinegar have been shown to help dissolve or pass kidney stones quickly.

💦 Drinking more water causes you to urinate more. This keeps the stone moving and helps prevent it from growing. A good target for water consumption is about 8-12 cups per day.

🍋 Citrus juices are helpful because they contain citrate. It’s a chemical that can help break up small stones. It may not have a large effect on a stone, but every little bit helps. Plus, consuming citrus juices in moderation can help prevent the formation of kidney stones.

🍎 The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar helps dissolve kidney stones.

❤️ Pomegranate juice is believed to improve kidney function, help flush stones and toxins from your system, and lower your urine acidity level, which can help prevent stones from forming in the future.

The amount of help these beverages will provide in passing a kidney stone continues to be studied, but they all have a plethora of additional health benefits. So consume in moderation and reap the benefits!

Feeling off? Vata Season (the period of Autumn to Early Winter) can be a challenge for many, in which we can feel cold, very dry and itchy, and anxious/erratic.

Here are a few suggestions to counter Vata energy:

1. Be okay with the change and find ways to enjoy it (hot tea, book, more opportunities for nesting). Avoid living in the past (I.e. lingering thoughts about missing summer, etc)

2. Avoid anything that amplifies and aggravates Vata Dosha like cold foods/drinks, cold activities, getting cold, etc.

3. Highlight warm, unctuous (creamy and oily) foods.

4. Avoid too much mobility (like running around and doing too much; being overly busy)

5. Go to sleep earlier

6. Bring warmth into your days with warm drinks, bedding, baths and a Vata pacifying oil blend such as sweet almond with Vetiver, Lavender, and Clary Sage.

We also have a variety of Dosha balancing products in store, stop in and chat about what’s best for you.

Although I’m more comfortable behind the scenes and off camera, keeping the focus on YOU and your needs, I’m here to introduce myself on this new rebranded, nutrition-focused account -having previously been sharing nutrition content since 2008 at

From a very young age, I grew up well acquainted with holistic approaches to health thanks to my Dad’s avid interest in natural remedies such as homeopathy, iridology, naturopathy, juice cleanses and more. As an adult, I was reawakened to the concept of nutrient dense, anti-inflammatory eating after reading Dr. Weil’s book, 8 weeks to Optimum Health and never looked back; eventually going on to earn a Diploma in Applied Nutrition.

Over the last 30 years, I’ve been optimizing recipes by substituting inflammatory, nutrient-void ingredients for natural, nutrient-rich, inflammation reducing ingredients to encourage enriching nourishment without deprivation!

As a Certified Holistic Nutrition Practitioner, Registered Manual Osteopathic Therapist, Certified Stott Pilates® Instructor, Ayurvedic Practitioner and Registered Yoga Teacher RYT 500®️ I help clients work towards health and wellness through a multi faceted, balanced, holistic and root-cause approach that includes hands-on therapy, mind-body movement, and nutrition.

My approach to nutrition is simple, sustainable, and empowers you with knowledge about your specific state of health (hormonal, micronutrients, imbalances, deficiencies, toxicities) so you can make life long changes and maintain accountability to the one who matters most: YOU.

I apply Ayurvedic Science alongside current nutrition information combined with individualized screening to create programs that are 100% uniquely tailored to your needs.

Want to unlock the unique answers you’re already holding in order to sustain your well-being? Reach out and let’s customize a plan for you that addresses all facets of your health and allows YOU to take self ownership 🍉

Do you love Shepherd’s Pie as much as our family does? We level up the nutrition factor by adding lots of mixed veggies rather than just the traditional corn, mash our potatoes with chicken broth (no butter or milk) and use extra lean grass finished beef or ground chicken. Served with green onion, a drizzle of Frank’s Red Hot and mustard for a pop of extra flavour and nutrients! For a fast weekday supper, we skip the oven and just top the meat/veggie mix with the potatoes in a bowl right from the stovetop 👌add a side salad or shredded lettuce on top for your daily dose of leafy greens and you’ve got a perfectly balanced meal

The only accountability that has 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 and 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙛𝙪𝙡 effect is to yourself.

Weight loss and fitness challenges seek to convince us that accountability to others is what you need to achieve success with your weight loss/fitness goals. And yes, while it can be helpful (and fun!!) to take part in challenges and be part of a group working towards the same end goal; encouraging each other through the process, the inherent problem with this is that it only works while you’re doing the program.

And so, the endless cycle continues… results are achieved, happiness abounds, the program ends and eventually… the pounds return.

The only way to break this cycle is to be accountable to YOU. For life. Stop making repeated commitments to others, and finally make the commitment to yourself, you’re worth it ❤️

You know what to do. Move more. Eat simply. You’ve got this.

And, if you need some clear, individualized direction and gentle guidance, with periodic check-ins to keep you on your path, we’ve got you. Reach out and let’s get started!

Our signature nutrition programs are designed around your unique physiology, micronutrient deficiencies, organ systems, hormone imbalances, and chemicals/toxicities. Rather than getting a “one size fits all” program, you’re getting a completely individualized, holistic plan that will bring your nutrition - and your life- into balance.

We’re here to put the pieces of your unique nutrition-health puzzle together, and give you tools to build sustainable, life long habits. So that ultimately, you choose to be accountable to yourself, for life!

As a Natural Nutrition Clinical Practitioner, I get asked about fasting a lot. Fasting has seen a major resurgence in recent years and, to be honest, I have mixed feelings about this. Not because I’m opposed to the practise of fasting (quite the opposite in fact; I recommend some type of fasting -specific to their needs- regularly to my clients). Rather, my concerns stem from people sensationalizing fasting and doling out blanket recommendations with a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

Intermittent fasting should be done with measurable, perceivable goals — goals that prioritize feeling, performing, and looking your best in a sustainable way. As such, fasting can be a powerful medicine to help people burn fat, lose weight, promote autophagy, regulate blood sugar, enhance mental function, and increase productivity. Short, intermittent fasts can even improve your metabolic health.

But as people extend their fasts to span multiple days in the name of minor, marginal benefits, I begin to worry. While specific populations may benefit from careful (medically supervised) extended fasts, many others will likely shed muscle mass and end up fatigued and nutrient-deficient. These concerns are doubled for athletes and a few other populations. Fasting just isn’t for everyone. But is fasting for you? And if so, how do you know what your fast should look like? Schedule in for a nutrition program with and look deeper into what YOU need.

Where my noshers at? Balanced meals can easily be created with a smattering of your favourite bites. Sliced boiled egg with chopped lettuce and pickles could replace the roast beef-lettuce-pickle wrap, maybe sweet potatoes sprinkled with nutritional yeast instead of cheese? Your plate should reflect who you are… when you eat, eat for YOU!

Want to learn which foods are best for YOU? Schedule an appointment with Christine, Certified Holistic Nutrition Practitioner and Ayruvedic Specialist to discover your unique constitution (Dosha), foods to incorporate, and foods to avoid for balancing your health, mental state, and nervous system.

Making conscious food choices based on your dosha ensures that you favour foods that are better suited to your mind-body type while also avoiding the ones that may cause an imbalance and lead to impaired health and state of mind.
