After the holidays, I often hear people say they feel sluggish, bloated, inflamed, or “off.” And it makes sense.
Weeks of richer foods, irregular meals, less sleep, fuller schedules, higher stress, and maybe a little more sugar or alcohol than usual can all increase the body’s toxic load and slow down our natural detox pathways.
Here’s the most important thing to remember: Your body already knows how to detox, it just needs the right conditions.
Before thinking about supplements, I always encourage starting with the basics:
• Hydration – Water supports the liver, kidneys, and digestion. Start your day hydrated and sip consistently.
• Sleep – Detoxification ramps up while you sleep. Poor sleep = slower cleanup.
• Gentle movement – Walking, stretching, rebounding, or yoga help move lymph and support elimination.
• Whole, simple foods – Focus on protein, fibre, veggies, and bitter foods to support digestion and liver function.
• Reduce stress – Chronic stress diverts energy away from detox pathways and digestion. Even small moments of calm matter.
• Support digestion – If you’re not digesting and eliminating well, detox can’t happen efficiently.
Supplements and herbal supports can be incredibly helpful and I’ve shared a few of my favourites in the graphics, but they work best when paired with intentional lifestyle changes.
Post-holiday detox doesn’t need to be extreme or punishing.
It’s about resetting rhythms, clearing excess, and giving your body space to do what it’s designed to do.
If you’re feeling ready to reset, start gently. Your body will thank you.
