A gentle reminder as the month wraps up: You don’t need to overhaul your life to come to yoga.

Sometimes one class is enough to shift something, to breathe a little deeper, soften what’s been tight, or step out feeling more like yourself again.

We’re so excited to welcome Sarah Harvie to Village Yoga on June 6 for a Conscious Connected Breathwork practice.

This is an active breathwork experience designed to create space in the body, heart, and mind. Set to music and held in community, the practice can help move emotions through the body and open the door to insight, healing, and connection with your inner wisdom.

Sarah is visiting from Canmore, BC and brings over 20 years of experience teaching meditation, breathwork, and yoga. She’s also a seasoned mountain guide, RMT, and a deeply experienced teacher of yoga nidra and breathwork around the world.

We’re thrilled to have her in the studio and to share this experience together.

One of the best parts of a small town studio is the feeling of practicing alongside people you know and people you’re just getting to know.

We all walk in carrying different things. Work stress, sore legs, full hearts, busy minds, new beginnings, hard weeks, good days. And then for an hour, we share the room.

That matters to us.

- Flow: for when you want to move, build a little heat, and feel energized
- Yin: for when your body is asking for space, stillness, and deeper release
- Restorative / Nidra: for when rest itself is the practice

Pemberton spring asks a lot of our bodies.

Between biking, hiking, running, long work days, and getting back outside more, it’s easy to end up carrying a lot of tension without even noticing.

Yoga can be the reset that helps everything else feel better.

Meet David Cross.

David’s teaching is rooted in the traditions of Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Anusara, and continues to be shaped by an ongoing study of the wider teachings of yoga, including the Vedas, Ta**ra, and Vedanta.

But more simply put: David brings a big-picture love of yoga into the room.

His classes may weave together movement, breath, meditation, and insights from the broader tradition, all with the intention of helping us connect more deeply to ourselves and to the practice.

Yoga first found David when he was 12, through Vanda Scaravelli’s Awakening the Spine. Something in those pages stayed with him, and his devotion to the practice has only grown since.

He also speaks beautifully to something we care deeply about here, that yoga isn’t only about the tools, but also about the people around us. The sangha. The community that holds us.

We’re so happy to have David teaching in our space.

Join sound practitioner Kerry Dorey on May 24 for a potent evening of sound, stillness, and deep rest.

You’ll be guided into a comfortable, supported position so the body can fully soften. From there, Kerry will take you on a sound journey using singing bowls, voice, and a wide range of instruments.

He’ll also share more about the intention behind the practice and the ways sound can support relaxation, meditation, curiosity, and healing.

A sound bath can be a beautiful way to explore your relationship with vibration, both around you and within you, in a space that feels safe, grounding, and spacious.

Meet Raelene: owner, instructor, and one of the steady individuals behind Village Yoga Pemberton

Raelene has been practicing yoga since she was a teenager and teaching since 2013. Over the years, her practice has evolved through many seasons, from the strength and discipline of asana, to the depth of restorative practices, breathwork, yoga nidra, and everything in between.

Outside the studio, she also works as a registered clinical counsellor and leads community development work that supports increased mental health care for young people and families in rural and remote communities across BC.

She brings all of that into the space she helps shape here: care, curiosity, groundedness, and a deep belief that yoga can meet us in many different ways.

When she’s not working or teaching, you’ll usually find her being a mom to her little one or out playing in the mountains.

We’re so grateful for all she brings to this community.
