September is Arthritis Awareness Month. Arthritis affects millions of people causing pain, swelling, and stiffness in the joints. The foot is a common location for arthritis to occur with its 33 joints. Orthotics provide stability to reduce pressure and strain to joints, support to distribute pressure evenly and cushioning to provide shock absorption.

We are excited to announce Josée Lemcke has joined the Okaped Pedorthic team!

Born and raised on the shores of Georgian Bay in Ontario, Josée grew up with a love of the outdoors and a passion for movement. She attended the University of Guelph achieving an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion. She then attended Western University to pursue a Diploma in Pedorthics where she developed a passion for building and designing orthotic devices to improve people's quality of life.

Following her career in Ontario where she expanded her skills to include teaching yoga and foot strengthening, Josée and her family made the leap to Kelowna to experience the Okanagan lifestyle and enjoy the great outdoors as much as possible.

Josée’s assessments typically have a focus on strength, mobility and stability of the foot with an overarching goal of helping her clients achieve their highest quality of life.

The amazing Okanagan summer is here and with that outdoor activities are in full swing. This is unfortunately when knee arthritis discomfort can increase and prevent you from enjoying those activities with family and friends. At times all it takes is a knee brace to decrease your discomfort.
