Rene's Research Genealogy .... Linking Past, Present, Future. You are not alone. I have always had a fascination with researching genealogy and genetics. Who were my ancestors?

When I am not outside digging around in the dirt or moving rocks, I am inside digging around in history and solving puzzles. I love mysteries and puzzles. Genealogy to me is just a big puzzle with a few mysteries thrown in. What have they passed down to me? What do I have in common with or how do I differ from my siblings, cousins and other relatives? Imagine my delight when the testing of DNA and

Genealogy came together! As my husband can attest I can and do spend hours, days, weeks immersed in researching the details of people who have come before. He just shakes his head as cemeteries catch my eye on trips. Walking through a cemetery is such a peaceful interlude. Who was that person, what did they do in their life, who are their relatives?

The HSO was honoured to attend the unveiling of the Chinese Canadian Railway Workers Memorial in Ottawa’s Chinatown this week.

This new memorial honours the thousands of Chinese labourers who endured dangerous and difficult conditions to help build the Canadian Pacific Railway between 1880 and 1885 — a vital piece of our country’s infrastructure and history

Yi and Shi Chang are the artists and sisters who created the Chinese Canadian Railway Workers Memorial, sponsored by the Chinatown BIA.

When a set of identical twins marries another set of identical twins, their children are called quaternary twins.
The children are actually cousins BUT are genetically closer to siblings as their Mother & Aunt share the same DNA as do their Father & Uncle.
Aren't genetics wonderful? 😀
