Do you believe we all experience stress? If you answered yes, the truth is this has become the norm. In fact it's necessary. Whether we know it or not our bodies are dealing with the consequences of the stresses in our lives all the time. There can be positive stresses, such as the bone stress generated in our legs by running. This can help strengthen the bones and prevent osteoporosis. However too much running, without the right diet or rest periods and that healthy bone stress leads to an unhelpful stress fracture.

When we talk and contemplate about stress, most people will think of emotional stress. There's an important deadline for work, the end of year tax return, the kids exams, interest rates, employers, employees, the list can go on and on. A degree of stress can help us to focus, prioritize and get the job done and meet those deadlines. Too much stress and we can bury our head in the sand and feel like you are drowning in it all and every little thing then becomes stressful in itself. If you feel you are having difficulty with creating priorities, meeting deadlines and just can't cope, Naramata Lifestyle Wellness Centre can help you to get the job done.

Are you interested in Miracles? Naramata Lifestyle would like to invite you to our study group. ACIM began with the sudden decision of two people to join in a common goal. Their names were Helen Schucman and William Thetford, Professors of Medical Psychology at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. They were anything but spiritual. Their relationship with each other was difficult and often strained, and they were concerned with personal and professional acceptance and status. In general, they had considerable investment in the values of the world. Their lives were hardly in accord with anything that the Course advocates. Helen, the one who received the material, describes herself:

Psychologist, educator, conservative in theory and atheistic in belief, I was working in a prestigious and highly academic setting. And then something happened that triggered a chain of events I could never have predicted. The head of my department unexpectedly announced that he was tired of the angry and aggressive feelings our attitudes reflected, and concluded that, “there must be another way.” As if on cue I agreed to help him find it. Juicing Benefits. Are your curious about what vegetables and fruit are best to juice? Obviously organic, GMO-free produce is the way to go. Non-organic products don’t contain the same amount of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals as au-natural vegetables and fruit. Essentially, you’d be cheating yourself by picking anything but fresh, organic, GMO-free produce. Build a juice base of fruits and vegetables that contain a lot of liquid. Think celery, cucumber, apple, carrot, beets, and lemons. The reason why I personally do this is because I find that the more fibrous vegetables tend to stick at the bottom of your jar and don’t mix that well with the rest of the liquid. Celery: -inflammatory -cancer -heart -gut -bloodsugar. Cucumber: -inflammatory -cure -health -more-arthriits -PH. Apple: -regulator -heart -gut -cancerous -asthma Carrot: -carotene -vision -cancerous -ageing -skin -heart Beets: -heart -protector -flow -blood-pressure -cleanser Lemons: -liver -kidney -brain -bacterial -cancerous -parasitic. Secondly, you want to add the most nutritious vegetables you can find at your produce store. Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, collard greens, kale, lettuce, spinach, radish, chard, parsley, cilantro…these are all super foods in their own way. Each one of them has specific healing properties and you should consume a good variety of each in order to gain the most benefits. add three more super foods at the end: turmeric or cur cumin, ginger, and garlic. These alone are known to treat a whole whack load of illnesses, but I would caution you to only add a little bit of each because they can be quite spicy and you will have to enjoy the taste of juices somewhat in order to stick to your juice fasting regimen!

Naramata Lifestyle Wellness Centre loves to share Fresh juices, particularly when we can gather fresh organic vegetables from our garden. Please let us know if you are interested in our upcoming Green Drink retreat. We extract juices from fresh vegetables, some fruits and tray-grown sprouts allow us to gain all the benefits and outstanding nutritional qualities in an easily assimilated form. These are digested immediately and begin cleansing and healing long before the same whole foods could begin to work. In addition, whole foods use up valuable energy because of the prolonged digestion process which can be used in healing. Juicing is not the same thing as blending or even liquefying. A blender makes a fruit or vegetable appear liquefied, whereas a juicer extracts only the liquid, leaving the cellulose or fiber behind. We use several juicers for preparing fresh juices. The Champion is an excellent machine. We will go over all the Juicing options including Vitamix at the Green Drink retreat. A popular breakfast we love to share is watermelon juice made with any of the mentioned juicers. During juicing we include the rind and seeds. This juice is excellent for the kidneys and bladder and it functions beautifully as a diuretic. By utilizing the whole food, the sugar content is reduced and there is additional protein as well as vitamins A, B and C and chlorophyll.

Perhaps the most exciting announcement at NLWC is the introduction of the iMORE (Interactive MOnitoring and Regulation System). The iMORE uses Heart Rate Variability (HRV) as a bio- feedback loop to automatically adjust the intensity of the system.

Over time, the iMORE technology (in combination with the iMRS 2000 applications) is able to train and improve your personal HRV by creating homeostasis in the body. HRV monitors the balance and ability of the Autonomic Nervous System to react to changes in the environment. iMORE™s not a measure of heart rate, but rather the health of the central nervous system of the individual.

The autonomic nervous system has two primary components: the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. Simple put your parasympathetic system is your REST, DIGEST and HEAL system whereas you sympathetic system is your FIGHT, FLIGHT or FRIGHT system which gets your body ready for stress.

It basically is a number that summarizes your ability and flexibility of your central nervous system in handling stress and balancing that with rest and relaxation. Regulation rigidity refers to the body being stuck in sympathetic or parasympathetic mode and having difficulty finding balance. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is a biomarker of cardiac sympathetic activity. People with high HRV are more stress tolerant and resilient in the face of stressful environmental changes.

Naramata Lifestyle Wellness Centre is know for stress reduction and prevention.

When we are suffering from a physical or mental problem, we are looking for a method that can help us. You might be interested in biofeedback, NLWC uses a system that is a worldwide known analytical and therapeutic device.

HOW DOES BIOFEEDBACK WORK? The technology that we use was created to deal with the innermost cause of our body’s improper functioning. This delicate technology treats the issue right in the cells, where it dissolves the blockades, which inhibit the body’s natural flow of energy.

Our biofeedback device is also in the forefront of prevention; it helps to reduce the risk of development of various problems.
The device operates as a "scanning device” that maps our inner electric, magnetic, and electromagnetic characteristics. Similar to an allergy test that is performed for 12000 different substances. Just image, this means the technology runs tests in our body according to the laws of electricity. From this it can be observed what are our body’s default responses and reactions to the different stimuli. This is important because with this method we can assess and sort out problems. After this, the device with the intelligence of the practitioner, is able to make the certain corrections with the help of which the problems can be adjusted towards proper functioning. It recognizes the differences and then healthy signals corresponding to our properties are fed back to our body. You will be amazed at the results. "Resolving the Unresolved"

Yoga Getting Started:
1. Lie Down and Connect to Your Heartfelt Desire. Bring to mind your heart's deepest desire-something that you want more than anything else in life: health, well-being, or awakening.
2. Set an Intention. It might be to relax and rest, or to inquire into a particular sensation, emotion, or belief.
3. Find Your Inner Resource. a safe haven within your body where you experience feelings of security, well-being, and calm.
4. Scan Your Body. Gradually move your awareness through your body. Sense your jaw, mouth, ears, nose, and eyes. Sense your forehead, scalp, neck, and the inside of your throat.
5. Become Aware of Your Breath. Sense the body breathing by itself. Observe the natural flow of air in the nostrils, throat, and rib cage as well as the rise and fall of the abdomen with each breath.
6. Welcome Your Feelings. Without judging or trying to change anything, welcome the sensations and emotions (such as sadness, anger, or worry) that are present in your body and mind.
7. Witness Your Thoughts. Notice and welcome the thoughts, memories, and images that are present in your mind.
8. Experience Joy. Welcome sensations of joy, well-being, or bliss emanating from your heart or belly and spreading throughout your body and into the space around you.
9. Observe Your Self. Be aware of your sense of "I-ness," or personality. Notice this sense of identity when you say "I'm hungry," "I'm angry," or "I'm happy." Experience yourself as an "observer" with Love!

Yoga comes to us naturally from birth, but in the rigmarole of life, we lose both our physical and mental flexibility. Judgments and opinions cloud our mind, creating a mixture of impressions, we forget to observe, perceive the finer things we have a natural affinity.

Have you ever come across a stressed baby? The answer is no! Unless we adults make the situations difficult for them they are usually at peace with themselves, frequently smiling for no reason at all. It is because an infant breathes from all the three sections of the body. Their breathing follows a harmonic pattern. As they breathe in their belly comes out, as they breathe out their stomach moves out. Growing up perhaps is a process of getting adulterated into an adult, who has forgotten to be natural!

Are you breathing properly? In one minute, you inhale nearly sixteen to seventeen times. However, when you are upset it may go up to twenty times per minute and when extremely tensed or angry - it could even total up to 25 times. Interestingly, when you are very calm and happy, it reduces to ten breaths per min and while meditating it can even go down to two or three. Deep meditation can decrease the number of breaths you take; thereby calming you down and making you live longer.

Naramata Lifestyle Wellness conducts training for children and adults – to connect them with the rhythm of nature.
