Cordick Chiropractic has expanded their selection of compression stockings!

There is a misconception that compression socks are only worn by older individuals; however, because of the pressure gradient in the socks, which reduced fluid retention in your legs, compression stockings are actually worn by people of all ages and have a wide range of uses! They can be beneficial for people with varicose veins, venous insufficiency, lymphedema, deep vein thrombosis (DVTs), and post-surgical swelling. They can also offer support during pregnancy, long flights, and athletic activities, as well as for people who either sit or stand all day.

Cordick Chiropractic already offers Lunatik Athletiks compression stockings and has recently expanded to now offer Bauerfeind compression garments as well. New styles include knee-high, thigh-high, and panty-hose lengths, as well as compression sleeves. In addition to traditional black, navy, and beige options, a lot of their products are also available in a variety of colours and patterns.

If you have been suffering with any of the above issues, you should talk to your doctor about obtaining a prescription for compression stockings.

What’s even better? If you are considering purchasing a pair, you should inquire about your insurance coverage options as compression garments are frequently covered by insurance companies!

Did you know that Cordick Chiropractic now dispenses Bauerfeind braces? Bauerfeind is a well-established company, based out of Germany, that offers a variety of high quality bracing options which range from basic to highly supportive, based on each patient’s needs. The majority of their braces are designed to be worn during activity, which helps to encourage muscle activation and build strength rather than develop a reliance on their braces. Conversely, they have other rigid brace options as well to restrict motion when that is required.

Braces are most commonly prescribed for:

Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too much bone, makes too little bone, or both. As a result, bones become weak and may break from a fall or, in serious cases, much smaller impacts.

However, being physically active can turn things around for those with conditions such as osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. That’s the power of exercise.

Exercise impacts health, but it must be the right exercise. Controlled movements that build strength and range of motion are ideal. A combination of activities, such as swimming, cardio gym machines and low-impact aerobics, can be effective. However, weight-bearing exercise works best to help you manage osteoporosis.

A chiropractor can prescribe a therapeutic exercise program to help increase your strength and range of motion in affected areas that will ultimately help manage osteoporosis.
