We are still accepting clients for our Day Program in Town of Smiths Falls. This free program is designed for individuals living with a progressive, life-limiting or life-threatening illness.

This personal, one-on-one service provides you with a safe space to share your grief and explore your thoughts and questions. It is offered for a designated period of time with a trained peer volunteer.

What an incredible day at the 3rd Annual HIKE for Hospice! 💚

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to all of our amazing volunteers, participants, community partners, sponsors, and every single member of our community for your unconditional love and support.

Even though the skies were grey, the rain held off and our community shined brighter than ever. The day was filled with love, laughter, heartfelt memories, warm hugs, and meaningful moments that reminded us what compassionate care truly looks like. ✨

It was so powerful to see everyone come together, standing side by side and walking/running in support of compassionate care in our communities. Yesterday proved something very important: in our communities, we truly believe that no one should face life’s journey alone. 💚

The Legacy Tree was in absolute full bloom with the names of loved ones we were honouring and walking in memory of. So many touching stories and beautiful memories were shared throughout the day, creating moments we will carry with us forever. 🌳

This event would not have been possible without the kindness, dedication, and support of so many people working together for one meaningful cause.

And the excitement continues… to date, we have raised an AMAZING $39,511.45 — and it’s still climbing!!!!! 🎉💚

Thank you again to everyone who joined us both physically and virtually. Your support means more than words can say. Together, we are making a difference. 💚

🚶‍♀️ This season our Grief and Bereavement program is offering two walking groups, one in Perth and one in Smiths Falls. 🚶

These weekly walking groups are a soothing and healthy way to talk about your experiences, in the company of skilled facilitators and walkers who have also gone through loss. Or, you can just walk and be quiet, and enjoy the outdoors and the presence of caring people.

Walking groups are every Wednesday starting at 10am for about an hour, and are suitable for various fitness levels.

More details are available by contacting our Bereavement Coordinator, and pre-registration is required.

The Hospice Hub is pleased to announce the launch of Practical Caregiver Training, a new educational program developed using the evidence‑informed Champlain Hospice Palliative Care model. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting families and enhancing the quality of care provided to individuals at end of life.

Practical Caregiver Training offers structured, hands‑on instruction designed to equip caregivers with essential skills for providing safe, compassionate, and effective care at home. Participants will receive guidance in areas such as personal care techniques, safe mobility assistance, comfort measures, and recognizing changes in a person’s condition. The program emphasizes clarity, confidence‑building, and practical application, ensuring caregivers feel prepared for the responsibilities they face.

This program provides significant benefits to caregivers, including increased confidence in performing daily care tasks, reduced stress through improved understanding of what to expect, and strengthened communication with hospice professionals. By empowering caregivers with knowledge and practical skills, the program enhances both caregiver well‑being and the comfort and dignity of the person receiving care.

The Hospice Hub is proud to offer this valuable resource to our community and remains dedicated to supporting caregivers through every stage of the hospice journey.
