Closure is intentional. Ghosting is avoidance.

Ending a connection doesn’t require a dramatic exit, just a clear, final message. Think of it from this perspective...It’s not about inviting conversation. It’s about choosing maturity over avoidance.

The Reality of Parental Alienation
Parental alienation isn't just a legal or family battle; it is a profound psychological marathon. For parents experiencing this right now: it is hard, it is painful, and some days, it feels impossible. But your strength is the anchor your child will eventually need.

To the Parents:

Live for yourself: Reclaiming your own life and joy isn't abandonment, it’s survival.

Trust their observation: Children are deeply observant. While they may be silent or distanced now, they are witnessing your resilience, your peace, and your unwavering stability.

The "Inevitable" Bond: Like my own journey from crying for my child to standing strong, remember that the truth of your bond is inevitable.

We need clinicians who understand that "living for oneself" is a critical clinical goal for alienated parents. Helping parents move from a state of constant crisis to one of personal values creates a healthier environment for the child’s eventual return.

Here are three reasons out of MANY as to why data collection is important in the Mental Health and Addictions field.

-Good data shows the real stories behind the numbers, guiding us to improve services, fill gaps, and lift the voices of those often overlooked.

- By collecting honest and clear information, we can learn what marginalized groups experience and create changes that truly meet their needs.

- Data helps us see where support is missing, so we can build better programs, stronger training, and fairer care for people who face discrimination.

Do you have a favourite pen or notebook you use? Do not ask me about the collections of pens I have; it would take a bit to get through them all. This is why we LOVE digital.

In mental health and addictions work, lived experience is powerful but only when it’s communicated responsibly.

One of the most valuable frameworks I’ve learned is PAR: Problem, Action, Result.
Instead of saying “I care about mental health”, PAR helps us show:

What challenge existed
What we actually did
and what changed as a result

💬 Impact matters. Language matters. People matter.

Holding space for others takes intention and energy. Planning the session shouldn’t take all day. 🌱

As group facilitators, mental health workers, and community advocates, we know how important it is to design sessions that are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and deeply grounded in our values.

That is why I created The Values-Centred Facilitator’s Toolkit. It’s a complete, foundational outline designed to help you structure your next group session with empathy, accountability, and clear theoretical alignment.

Because everyone works differently, I’ve made this completely free and accessible in two formats. Just pick the one that works best for your practice:

📁 The Digital-Friendly Option: Grab the editable Canva template link. You can type directly into the document, swap the colours, and customize the branding to match your own clinic or agency!

🖨️ The Print-Friendly Option: Grab the standard PDF file straight from Google Drive. Just hit print, grab a clipboard, and you are ready to facilitate.

Whether you are drawing from DBT, Narrative, or Strengths-Based frameworks, this toolkit keeps the focus exactly where it needs to be: on your participants.

Ready to use it for your next circle or workshop? Click the link below to access the Drive folder with both options! 👇

What an awesome resource !

What is a PHQ-9? This questionnaire helps flag areas of concern while leaving room for deeper exploration in conversation with your clients.

The PHQ-9 (Patient Health Questionnaire-9) objectifies and assesses degree of depression severity via questionnaire.

As a Digital Media Communications Advocate, I believe our online spaces should reflect the same care we give our physical ones. If your agency is looking to create more accessible, sensory-friendly content, I’d love to connect.

It’s not selfish to pour into your own cup.
Think about it. YOU put your own shoes on in the morning.
YOU lay your head on your pillow at night.
YOU live inside your mind and body every single day.

See the pattern.
Not every “I” statement is selfish, it’s simply honest.
And sometimes you have to teach the people around you what it looks like to honor yourself.

✨ Quick, Powerful Ways to Put Yourself First!

• Start your mornings with your energy first.
Before the world asks anything of you, give yourself five quiet minutes to breathe, stretch, or simply exist.

• Say “yes” to what expands you, even if that means solitude. Say “no” without guilt.
Protecting your peace isn’t rude. It’s responsible.

• Build tiny rituals that make you feel grounded.
A warm drink, a slow walk, a playlist that lifts you. Small things shift your entire day.

• Check in with yourself as often as you check your phone.
Your needs deserve the same attention you give everything else.

• Celebrate your progress, not your perfection.
Every time you choose yourself, you rise a little higher.

• Surround yourself with people who don’t punish your growth.
The right people won’t be threatened when you start taking up space. They’ll cheer!

• Rest before you’re exhausted.
Your body isn’t a machine. Pausing is part of the climb.
