💙 Self-Care Sunday 💙

It's been a challenging few days around the Valley. Many people are still without power, dealing with fallen trees, cleanup, and unexpected disruptions to their routines.

Today, if you can, take a few moments for yourself. Enjoy a quiet cup of coffee, spend time with family, take a walk, read a book, play a board game, sit outside and listen to the birds, or simply rest.

Not every moment needs to be productive. After a stressful few days, sometimes the best thing we can do is slow down, recharge, and appreciate the little things.

Wishing everyone a safe and peaceful Sunday. ❤️

🌿Enjoy the Outdoors—Without the Tick! You can reduce your risk of bites by taking a few simple steps:

👖 Tuck pants into socks and shirts into pants
🧴 Use insect repellent with DEET or icaridin
👕 Wear light coloured clothing
🥾 Stay on trails when hiking
🚿 Shower after being outdoors
✅ Do a full body tick check on yourself, children, and pets after outdoor activities

Don’t forget—ticks love to hide behind knees, in armpits, the groin, scalp, and even between toes!

🌧️ Self-Care Sunday 🌧️

It may be a gloomy, drizzly day, but sometimes those quiet days are perfect for tackling something that can help us feel a little lighter - decluttering.

Some communities have large item pickup happening this week, and with the Big Give coming up in early June, it’s a great opportunity to clear out both big and small items you no longer need.

We don’t always think of decluttering as self-care, but research suggests that reducing clutter can help lower stress, create a calmer environment, and even improve focus and mood.

Maybe today is the day to clear that drawer, closet, room, or pile you've been meaning to get to. Small changes can make a big difference.

Emergencies can have a greater impact on persons with disabilities.
A power outage may disrupt elevators, transportation, and communication. Be prepared and learn how you can support others so everyone stays safe during an emergency:
- Create emergency plans for their specific needs
- Establish personal support networks
- Add any supplies they may need to your emergency kit
