We are THRILLED to share that Dr. Jillian Edgar is making Peterborough her home town practice and beginning at Kawartha Family Chiropractic FULL TIME starting in August ☀️ after almost 2 years of part time practice inside 403 McD! 🥰❤️

Dr. Jillian Edgar has a wide range of skills including but not limited to manual and instrument adjusting, acupuncture, extensive training in pregnancy and post partum care and also has a special interest in treating Hip and Knee OA!

We are so lucky to have had her on our team for almost 2 years and are thrilled to have her begin working with our team 5 days a week! 🗓️

MATERNITY LEAVE INFO ℹ️ 🌊

Dear patients of Kawartha Family Chiropractic ~ I have made the decision to be in practice until Friday August 22nd 2025 🗓️ (one month to the day! 🥹)

This will bring me just shy of 39 weeks and my hope is that Baby Carswell stays in until then, however we all know that the situation is fluid and things can change.

Any new patients know that my time is limited in practice however I am happy to begin their care and then transfer their case to one of my associates if needed 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

Dr. Jillian Edgar will be joining KFCC FULL TIME starting in August and will be covering my patients and practice while I am off on maternity leave and also will be seeing anyone who I am unable to fit into my schedule. In August I plan to see less patients in a day but have no fear as Dr. Jill will be in practice Monday - Friday to support our clinics needs 🙏🏻

My plan is to be off until the end of November and come back (EXTREMELY) part time in December and then return to practice 3-4 days a week come January 2026. Special shoutout to my husband Mitch who will be a stay at home dad come January which will allow this mom-preneur to get back to saving spines 🦴 🧠

This 3-4 month leave from in person practice will be very hard for me to do but don’t worry you will be seeing me in NOVEMBER for our fall 💻 🤰 🧘🏼‍♀️ class beginning again so mark your calendar 🗓️ can’t wait to begin my PP healing journey will my incredible moms and patients from the comfort of my home before I get back to hands on practice in December 🎄

Dr. Loucks is accepting 🆕 NEW 🆕 patients into her practice until July 18th!

Existing patients still welcome to book until end of August with Dr. Loucks and if baby comes early patients will be moved to Dr. Edgar’s schedule who is covering her practice while she is off with babe 👶🏼

This means that patients who have never seen Dr. L before or patients new to chiropractic will need to schedule their INTAKE prior to this date in order to be a part of her practice ~ this is approximately 6 weeks prior to her due date and will allow care to be started and most concerns managed well before she is off for the fall on maternity leave (returning part time in December & full time in January 2026!)

All NEW patients beyond this date will be scheduled with our associates Dr. Edgar or Dr. Balmer so don’t fret if this timeline doesn’t work for you!

We are always welcoming new patients into the practice we just want to ensure you are getting the follow through with care that you deserve in order to heal!

This last 6 weeks in practice will also allow priority for Dr. Loucks’ existing patients to receive care without scheduling conflicts before she is off for a few months!

Her plan is to work until she can’t anymore and no end date has been set ~ yet! 🤰

5 things I am not ashamed to admit as a 30 year old business owner and first time mom 👇🏼

1️⃣ Prioritizing my career growth in my 20s ~ there is so much pressure from society to go to school, get married, and immediately start a family ~ as if that’s the only reason to get married? But I’m so grateful I was able to spend my 20s in the grind and setting myself up in a place where my career is stable and I can fully embrace this new chapter.

2️⃣. Paying down debt ~ it’s no surprise that as a university student of more than 8 years, coupled with purchasing a practice right out of school it came with some BIG bills 💸 and BIG risk! Taking time to invest into my future is something I’ll never regret. Don’t get me wrong I’m still in debt 💸 but at least it’s what they call “manageable??” 🤪 if you have chosen a profession that requires years of university education never be ashamed of the investment it took to get there! Keep working hard and one day it will be a memory!

3️⃣. Prioritizing Travel and Making Memories with my husband ~ truly believe you will NEVER regret making memories and seeing this beautiful world we live in! This is something I do want to take with me when having a family but let’s be real ~ travel looks different with kids. Not bad ~ just different. So I wanted to make sure Mitch and I got to see the world before we became someone else’s whole world 🌎 🇬🇷 🇮🇹 🇹🇷 🇵🇪 🇨🇱 🇺🇸 🇲🇽 🇨🇦

4️⃣.I don’t really have a birth plan???? Shocking I know 😆 I mean I guess my plan is to do this thang as unmedicated as possible and make sure myself and baby are okay at the end of it! But we are fluid in that plan and truly I just don’t see the point in stressing over every details when everyone’s experience is different and you never really know what you are in for until it happens! 🤷‍♀️

5️⃣. Not having my maternity leave “etched in stone” ~ when is my last day? When my body tells me. When will I return? When my body tells me! 😆 and that’s just how it’s going to be. I have the best of intentions to practice up until my water breaks+ come back part time in Dec 🎄 (my patients 🤣 when I tell them this but self employed peeps know ✊)

HEADS UP! 🤩 CANADA DAY WEEKEND HOURS 🇨🇦

We will be closed for the upcoming long weekend and taking advantage of the Tuesday Holiday by taking the extended long weekend off including the Monday!

Dr. Loucks, Dr. Balmer & Leanne will be in office Monday - Friday this week and then off for the long weekend and back into clinic Wednesday July 2nd! 🇨🇦

Dr. Edgar will be on summer holidays this week and into next week and is out of office but returning Thursday July 3rd! 🇺🇸 ⚾️ ☀️

Entering my Mom-Preneur Era 🤍🖤

I am so blessed to of had an uncomplicated pregnancy for these past 7+ months and have been feeling well overall in my joints and body for this time 🙏🏻 (S/O to regular chiropractic adjustments and prenatal massage therapy + pelvic floor physio)

I’m so proud of myself for pushing through morning sickness (aka all day sickness) in my first trimester and not missing a single day of work throughout this phase all while helping my patients thrive and feel their best even if I wasn’t feeling mine 🙌🏻

I’ve climbed mountains in the Chilean Andes 🇨🇱 with this babe in my tummy and with each passing day I’m more in awe of the females body and what it can do! Creating and sustaining life is truly a miracle and a gift I will never take for granted!

While I look forward to finishing this pregnancy strong in practice (and yes I’m still adjusting my patients!) I have made the decision to cut back on my practice hours for the months of July and August and no longer work Monday mornings. This will give me some time and space to prep the clinic for my “mat leave” (more on that soon 🔜) and feel set and prepared to step back for a few months all while still keeping an integrative health care practice going 🩺👐🏻 I’m so grateful that .the.chiro will be working Mondays (as always!) and can accommodate any of my patients who require this day of the week for care 🫶🏻

Becoming a business owner and a mom are my two biggest life goals coming together and I can’t wait to evolve into this role and begin to grow my family 🙏🏻

From here on out I am protecting my peace, my little family and my practice ✌🏻 👩🏻‍🦰👨🏼‍🦳🦊👶🏼👐🏻

Yesterdays fun with the Living Well Senior Showcase at the !

This was my first ever showcase with KFCC and I think it was a success! 🎉 thank you so much for .the.chiro and for being there as an advocate for the clinic and holding down the fort when I needed to get some much needed steps in and walk around 👟 🤰

Having almost 1,000 people through the doors, connecting with current patients, patients I haven’t seen in a few months/years, old teachers, my first boss ever 😝 it was fun! ~ needless to say I went in a little nervous but the and .the.chiro were laughing at me with how many people I knew as the day went on 🤣 guess that’s what happens when you practice in the town you grew up in!

It felt like a “field trip” 🚌 from work 😅 and we will look forward to more events like this in our community in the future!

Also special shoutout to my husband for helping me set up Tuesday night and take down Wednesday after the show and getting all our IT set up for the day! ❤️ wouldn’t be able to do it without you!

Today is a bittersweet day as we say “Goodbye for now” to our long time Chiropractic Health Assistant Erynn. 😭❤️

She leaves us but takes a new leap in her professional and academic growth as she has been accepted into a full time Research Assistant Position through the Kinesiology department at Trent University 💚👩🏻‍🔬👩🏽‍💻🦵🏽🧠

For over 2.5 years Erynn has been our go to gal for all things exercise therapy, Jane app guru, social media, comedic relief, killer dance moves and inspiration. You guys know I’ve said this before but the girl literally works two jobs, attends school full time and has aspirations to go grad school also! 🔥 she is a powerhouse! So when she approached me with this 4 month sabbatical to pursue a full time research position all I could think was “girl you are crushing it!!! 🧠🤩”

Today is a day to celebrate her!! She knows her family at Kawartha Family Chiropractic is going to miss her immensely over these next four months but we will welcome her back with open arms this coming Fall 🍂 🍁 !!

Make sure you come in tonight and see her from 2-5 as she spends one last afternoon with us until her return in October ! 🎃
