Paws with Payge was founded by Payge Ceasy, a 16-year-old who has been battling mental health issues for many years and her mental health then started to break down her physical health. She had learnt from her doctors and therapist the benefits of having a therapy dog and how introducing a therapy dog can help her learn to manage her mental health in a way that would help her be able to live a more independent life as a teenager and into adulthood. The biggest obstacle was being able to afford a therapy dog, and as her family and friends around her started to rally together and then bring in the community to help her achieve this goal, she realized that other families are probably in the same position and would need help financially. Payge has started this foundation to help bring awareness of the benefits therapy dogs can bring to someone in need and raise money to help families achieve their goal of having a therapy dog.
