One of the joys of being on the Otonabee River is the annual journey the turtles make to lay their eggs in the sandy land. Not only do the turtles love it, our lavender crop do too as the sandy soil drains well. Lavender doesn't like it too wet.

Shinrin-yoku, or "forest bathing," is a Japanese practice that involves spending time in nature, particularly forests, to improve physical and mental well-being. The recent ice storm in Peterborough left everything in a frozen embrace—including our lavender fields. Seeing our plants encased in ice is both breathtaking and worrisome. ❄️💜

Nature is powerful, unpredictable, and sometimes harsh. But just like these lavender plants, we hold onto hope. Lavender is tough, and we’re sending all our energy into believing they’ll push through this challenge.

If you’ve ever faced an unexpected storm in life, you know the strength it takes to endure. Just like these plants, we bend but don’t break. Hoping for warmer days ahead.
