Happy Victoria Day Weekend!
Celebrating being ONE Sovereign Nation! No one can take that away!
Did you know that Victoria Day, celebrating Queen Victoria’s birthday, marks Canada’s tradition of honouring its connection to the monarchy? Observed on the Monday preceding May 25, Victoria Day has long been associated with the Sovereign’s birthday in Canada.
While reigning as monarch, Queen Victoria oversaw Canada’s transition to a Dominion under the British Empire through the British North America Act, 1867, which united several British North American colonies into Canada. However, full sovereignty was only achieved much later with the Constitution Act, 1982, ending British legislative control over Canadian affairs.
A sovereign nation is an independent country that has full control over its own affairs, both internally and externally. Sovereignty means the nation has the authority to govern itself without interference from outside forces.
We're open Saturday 9-1, closed Sunday & closed Monday.
