“It was growing and growing,” says Melissa McFarland, executive director of the Lindsay BIA about Classics on Kent. But, she adds, her organization’s steering of it, “was a huge undertaking.”
So when Wards Lawyers stepped forward to take the wheel, with assistance from the BIA and other community partners, “It was a huge relief.”
About the event, which sees Lindsay’s Kent Street transformed into a showcase of vintage vehicles, Melissa adds, “I love seeing thousands of people, some you know, some you haven’t seen in years, visitors from away...seeing it through their eyes, it puts a light on our downtown and makes it look so fantastic.”
Classics on Kent takes place Sunday, July 20 and is raising funds for Big Brothers, Big Sisters Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton.
Listen to Melissa, and other community partners, discuss their love of Classics on Kent in new episode of Wards Legal Matters.

This Canada Day, CMHA HKPR joins many in reflecting—not just celebrating.
For many Indigenous peoples, July 1 is a reminder of the lasting impacts of colonialism and systemic racism—realities that continue to shape mental health and well-being across generations.
At CMHA, we recognize that reconciliation is not a single act, but an ongoing process. As a network, we are learning, listening and working toward meaningful change.
We know there is still much to do.
