Optimal Health Physiotherapy

Optimal Health Physiotherapy Our goal at Optimal Health Physiotherapy is to provide excellent physiotherapy services at every stage of your rehabilitation.

Who we are:

Kathy Eggenberger
I have been practicing physiotherapy since 1999 when I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. I began my career working at several sports medicine clinics in Vancouver, Victoria and London. I have been practicing in Peterborough since 2003. I started Optimal Health Physiotherapy in 2015. I am a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapists and have a certification in Acupuncture and Dry Needling from APTEI. When I am not working as a physiotherapist, I spend some time coaching the local youth triathlon team, the Peterborough Pirates and instructing in the local youth mountain bike program, Sprockids. I have competed with the Canadian National Rowing Team and the Canadian National Age Group Triathlon Team. In my spare time I can be found playing outside with my husband and two young children; skiing, swimming, cycling and running. I look forward to meeting you and helping you along your journey to optimal health!

It's official, the 2026 Kawartha Nordic ComPassion Relay is back again on Saturday, January 31!

It's time to dust your skis off and pick your fundraising team!

This year, the relay runs for 6 hours (10am - 4pm). It's non-competitive and open to everyone, whether you're in it for a single loop or planning to ski all day. Come solo or rally a team of friends, co-workers, or family.

Now in its fifth year, this event brings our community together to support local charities that are doing meaningful work close to home. So far, we’ve raised more than $60,000. This year, we’re aiming for $26,000 in support of six partner organizations through the ComPassion Project.

Ski, volunteer, donate, or just come out to cheer and enjoy the fun.

Ask your RMT:
What keeps you in the profession?

The calm and peace.

Days can really get hectic, especially this time of year. I do my best to stay on schedule, but sometimes things fall by the wayside and the 15 min between sessions can be a mad dash.

However, as soon as that door closes and I set intention with first contact, usually static contact or compressions, we both take a breath and the world falls away. Everything is left at the door and inside we have a unique moment to forget responsibility of family, the stressful job, chores and errands, everything else can wait.

In this moment we are working on your goals we have set for this session. If it is relaxation, increasing range of motion for an area, reducing extra tension, pain management. This moment is client centred, focused on you and I get to be apart of this amazing opportunity.

Being apart of these moments is what I love about being a massage therapist.

At Optimal Health, we believe great care starts with continuous learning. 💡
Each month, our team dives into new research and emerging treatments to stay informed and inspired.

This month, we explored Protein-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections — a therapy that’s gaining attention for its potential role in healing and pain management. While we don’t currently offer PRP, we found the research fascinating and wanted to share what we learned.

👉 Read our latest blog to learn more about PRP, how it’s used, and what current studies are showing

At Optimal Health, our team is passionate about lifelong learning. Each month, we hold continuing education sessions to share the latest research, discuss emerging treatments…
